Feline Follies

Pretty cat.

Looks like she has a touch of "goopy eye". Our Mycroft gets that. At first, he'd fight us when we'd try to clean it out, so it was getting green and yucky. Now he tolerates having his eyes cleaned every couple days. I can tell he still doesn't like it, but he must know it feels better after the goop is gone.

My mom had a Siamese that got goopy eye as he got older, and she wouldn't keep it clean. He got an infection and went blind in his left eye. I was really ticked off. All it would have taken was a quick swipe with a clear washcloth or even a fingernail.

This looks like my cat but I'd never let her go outside.

Uugh. I’m sorry. Both our girls are pound purries who needed a lot of treatment to save their eyes; we wash them regularly but give them treats so they’re pretty ok with it.

We are having to give nose drops to two of our fur babies. Finnegan brought a touch of gaol fever in the house. I'm not suprised. Itty bitty nostrils, huge cosmic avoidance skills.

My rabbit Coconut has been having problems the vets are still trying to figure out. At one point, I was having to prepare a total of 26 different doses plus subcutaneous fluids. Some were once a day, some two times a day, and others were three times a day. For a week, she was on antibiotics that she didn't want to willing take and suppressed her appetite, which was already down.

Fortunately, she's doing better but have now left two messages with a specialty vet trying to make an appointment.

I wish you and Coconut good luck, but I also wanted miracles for my last dog and two cats, It did not happen. $ went down the vet hole.

As hard as it is to say... and unless I misunderstand let her go. I wish I had with mine, I held on to them too long and their pain & mine only increased.

I had to put down my cat Puzzle in February and we had also put down a couple other rabbits (one due to illness and the other old age). We also had one pass away of a tumor just five days before my father-in-law passed.

I'm feeling a little better about Coconut in that she's eating at least her pellets and normal bathroom habits have returned. Her weight is coming back up. It looks like it may be a dental problem so will have to see how it can be treated and what it is going to cost. The one that had the tumor had gone to the specialist who said that aside from costing around $5k, there was only a 50% chance of surviving the surgery as rabbits don't handle surgery itself very well. He passed away a few days later, so he most likely wouldn't have survived.

A reluctant "like".

Good Luck to you both.

Need another category that conveys agreement with but not "like."

I believe that you misunderstood my intent.

I could not click like, because I fully understand your pain when some have to go down, and my last dog died next to my computer the day before I was finally going to take him to my vet, I woke up and found him cold. Buddy is buried out by the pond and he gets regular visits. So do the cats.
