During the conflicts with the Klingon Empire and the Dominion what kind of weapons were employed for ground operations like tanks and apc's?

All we ever saw on camera were h-h phasers and phaser rifles.

I'm sure they had some type of high explosive launcher like the Jems

^probably somethin' similar to, but slightly more advanced than the photon grenade launcher that Kirk used against the Gorn on Cestus III.

also, IIRC, in the episode 'Nor the Battle to the Strong', there's mention of some kind of "hopper", which I'd assume was used to transport troops. we never see one though.

In "Nor the Battle to the Strong" I think they mentioned that the Klingons were using mortars. They were definitely shelling the area at least.

While in the 24th century transporters would remove most of the need for personnel carriers also in "Nor the Battle..." we hear the Klingons are using transporter scramblers or inhibitors and that the Starfleet defenders are being shuttled around in "hoppers", which the name suggests are capable of flight.

In "Nemesis" we had the Argo buggy, which came with a mounted phaser. Despite the dubious reasons for using it in the movie, it could function as the 24th century equivalent of a Fast Attack Vehicle/Desert Patrol Vehicle.

As for tanks, would they need them? An armed shuttle could do everything a tank could do, it isn't hampered by terrain, it is faster and can strike anywhere on a planet, it can reach orbit. It is also a personnel carrier since it can "shuttle" troops around, if it has a transporter even better.

Starships could take the role of artillery pieces, able to strike from long range and the safety of space. Though it is interesting that in the two ground battles we saw no one seemed to bother with maintaining orbit superiority or whatever you call it. Plus if a torpedo real did have a 1.5 kg anti-matter warhead...a starship should be easily able to wipe out entire armies with no effort. As for phasers...was it Kirk who stunned an entire city with his ship's phasers?

I'd been thinking about the war that the U.S. is currently fighting, about how the troops move from place to place and the equipment they have supporting them.
It got me to thinking would the Federation use such things in their conflicts.
Thanks for the input!

Also in "Homefront" we hear that Starfleet has access to "personal shields", though we have never seen anyone use them.

I missed that in the episode. Are they supposed to be like the one Fajo used in the TNG episode The Most Toys?

We don't know. In "Homefront", they were ordered distributed to the troops ostensibly because of an approaching Dominion invasion - but the people ordering the distributing knew that there would be no invasion. Since we've never seen these shields used in the battlefield, we might speculate that they are in fact riot control gear, and that the conspirators in that episode distributed them because they wanted to secure their coup against Earthling rebellion, not against Jem'Hadar invasion.

In essence, the personal shields might be like the ones we saw in TAS: very handy for protecting you from the elements (and perhaps from shrapnel?), but absolutely non-phaserproof.
