I think "The Christmas Shoes" is a love it or hate it sort of thing. I know people who'd look at you like you had two heads if you said you didn't like the song.

I'd post about my favorite/most hated Chanukah songs, but the list of notable songs is so small, what's the point?

Ya I hear ya.... I dont think I have ever heard any!!! (The radio is flooded with christmas music.. I think its sad they ignore Chanukah)

I believe the recordings of the song are the same. Savatage became TSO after DWD came out.

Unjust heard a very lovely Christmas song about a boy who wants to buy a Christmasr present for his mother who is dying of cancer (and the doctor's have said that this will most likely be her last Christmas). The song's called "Christmas Shoes" and is a must listen.

Well, that sounds festive and cheerful.

Then again, my grandmother died of cancer at Xmas (in 1986) so I think I'm glad I've never heard (of) it.

Don't have any favorite Christmas songs but

"Silent Night" is a pretty song.

and

"Mommy kissing Santa Claus" is just creepy,

and

"Have yourself a merry little Christmas" is annoying no matter who sings it.

What is creepy about it? It's about a kid who sees his mother and father kissing and is too young to realize that it's his dad dressed as Santa Claus.

There's a single version that used to get a lot of airplay in the late '90s/early 2000s...not sure how common it is on the radio today. It's in my personal Christmas mix.

I, and a few others in this thread, have that down as one of our "most hated." So, I'm not sure if you're being serious here or not. If so, then I'm glad someone likes it, I guess. Not my cup of tea, for reason #3 on this list.

then you guys have obviously not seen the play that the song came from. Because the song tells just an overall picture of the story.

I don't much mind "Last Christmas" anymore because there is a remake floating around (don't know who sings it). The mere fact that somebody other than Wham is singing this song, makes all the difference.

Is it any shorter? My biggest problem with the song is that it's a two-minute song needlessly bloated into six. Back when it was in the CD version of my Christmas mix, it was taking up space that could have been occupied by three good songs.
