Favourite Trek Uniform

I really like the nuTrek uniforms and they're probably my favorite. I also like the simplicity of the The Cage/WNMHGB ones which nuTrek copied in the Kelvin uniforms. I think Enterprise's uniforms were the most realistic and practical of the bunch. FC unit are my second favorite.

My vote goes to the TWOK uniforms. Not very practical, but very sleek.

My own!

Nice holster:D

I like Voyager's because of the simplicity and sleekness, but it was a bit drab. TOS was cute, and 09 was just as good in a different way.
But I think TMP was the only one that really looked spacey. Maybe a little darker so they wouldn't look washed out, but the style seems really in line with fashion trends as they have progressed. It's not hard to believe in 100 years we will be wearing loose, comfortable clothing that doesn't really distinguish between genders.

in 100 years ... clothing that doesn't really distinguish between genders.
I hope we NEVER get to that point, icky. Even with the various jumpsuits, the male and female clothing had a difference in the cut. They couldn't wear the other gender's uniforms, not without appearing odd.

:)

I think the point is to do away with the incongruity of one gender dressing asexually and the another hypersexually.

Yeah, yeah...women should dress like this while men like this. Buhahahahaha.

Favorites:

-- Late TNG (the ones with slight collars) and early DS9/Voyager. (For whatever reason, I think the blue uniforms look better in TNG style and the red and gold in DS9 style.)

-- Enterprise. Nice and practical.

-- TWOK-era. Not as practical, but it's a good look.

Least favorite:

-- Early TNG (the crewnecks with piping). They look like spandex pajamas.

-- TOS. Too much color.

-- Late DS9 and TNG movies. Not enough color.

-- TMP. Just kind of silly-looking.

Yep, pretty much that.

And I like early DS9/VOY the best because they have the best balance of Trek look and workability.

Best:

  • NX Enterprise duty uniforms. Gives it a very realistic astronaut feel.
  • DS9 all-grey duty uniforms. I always liked the militaristic feel of those uniforms.
  • TWOK officer uniforms. Had a very grand, almost regal feel to them.
Worst:

  • All of the TOS uniforms. They looked cheap and poorly made. Total garbage.
  • The duty uniforms for the first season of TNG. Omg, talk about not leaving much to the imagination. Way, WAY too tight and revealing.
  • Wasn't a huge fan of the Flag Officer uniform in Enterprise. It looked stupid - a perfectly good suite and tie being mucked up with pips and department stripes on the shoulders?

Their predecessor (the early DS9/VOY uniforms) looked too thin, too baggy and loose fitting, and just didn't look professional enough.

That was the intention! For DS9, the production staff wanted a less formal uniform. The actors were able to roll up their sleeves using those uniforms.

I always thought the uniforms of the Enterprise-C in "Yesterday's Enterprise" were cool because they were a transition between the original crew's uniforms in the movies and what was seen in TNG.

My favorite would have to the TWOK and TNG uniforms. But i do also love the uniforms that the used in the Next Gen movies

Weren't they a reuse of the TOS movie-era uniforms, just without the white turtleneck sweaters underneath?

(And near-Romulan-strength shoulder pads!)

They were also without the belt and buckle.

I don't know about the shoulder pads though...

And plus the 24th Century old uniforms only had 3 department colours as opposed to like 10 from the movie era. The Ensigns and helmsman started appearing in Command white as opposed to yellow.
