Favourite TNG guest stars?

Hello everyone, just wanted to see your views about your favourite guest stars (famous or otherwise) during the 7 years of the series?

One of my faves was Majel Barrett as Lwaxana Troi, brilliantly acted and comedic against Picard :-) And then on course Kelsey Grammer popping up in Cause and Effect as Captain Bateson!

^ agree on those two. And of course Muldaur as Pulaski. Others I think are memorable are:
Worf's adoptive family (Bikel, Brown and Sorvino)
Matt Frewer as the time-travelling con-artist (read somewhere was written for Robin Williams?)
Famke Janssen as the TNG Elaan of Troyius
Paul Winfield as Darmok
David Ogden Stiers in the Lxwanna love story
David Warner as Cardassian interrogator in Chain of Command
Ronny Cox as Jellico in CoC

Strange that I can remember actors even if can't remember title or plot of episode. Despite not being a TNG fan, I think it has a better class/standard of guest actors than the other Trek series...

edit: Rama just made my case below :) Look at that list of names...

Does Michelle Forbes count as Ro?
Matt Frewer

Jennifer Hetrick as Vash. I'm constantly admiring writer Ira Steven Behr who created Vash for the series. The character is an explorer with an expertise in archaeology, an adventurer, a female Indiana Jones. In the episodes where she appears, this beautiful brunette, with her beguiling smile and blue eyes, manages to charm not only the good captain of the Enterprise but the omnipotent Q as well.

I've always seen the Picard/Vash relationship as an homage to the great romantic film pairings of the 40's. Vash is Bacall to Picard's Bogart. The very compelling 'battle of wills' dynamic to the Picard/Vash relationship is reminiscent of Bogart and Bacall in the classic movie "To Have and Have Not." Vash's brazenness complements Picard's more sedate personality perfectly. She is the ideal foil for Picard's straight man. The characterizations and relationship dynamics between Picard and Vash makes this pairing a pure joy to watch.

Who else would tell Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a sexy purr, "This isn't a starship, Jean-Luc. I don't follow orders."

And when she breaks into the captain's quarters, does Picard call security? No. He has her spend the night with him and feeds her breakfast the next morning.

This woman is too cool!

Q, Vash, Troi's mom.

In that order I think. Fun characters, witty dialogue, and some hilarious episodes.

Lots of guest stars come to mind. However, I really like Michelle Forbes 'cause Ro Laren was my favorite TNG minor character... as you can tell by my screen name.

Paul Winfield as Captain Dathon wins it for me. My all-time favorite episode, and an amazingly powerful and textured performance given the fact that all he had to say was ridiculous crap like "The river Temarc.....In WINTERRRR!"

My Top Ten

John de Lancie as Q
Michelle Forbes as Ro
Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan
Colm Meaney as Miles O'Brien
Leonard Nimoy as Spock
Mark Lenard as Sarek
DeForrest Kelley as the Admiral
James Doohan as Scotty
Alexander Enberg as Taurik
Marc Alaimo as Gul Macet

C'mon though...getting Stephen Hawking on STNG was quite a coup at the time! That's gotta be numero uno!! AND Mae Jemison!

Susan Gibney is another good one...perhaps not as good as Paul Winfield...

I like her too, AND Carolyn Seymour. Omg she was in Space:1999? Space 1999 - The Seance Spectre[Eva] 1978

Eh, the behind the scenes stories about Hawking on the set are more awesome than the actual scene.

If they had gotten Newton & Einstein as themselves, too....well, that would have been epic.

;) :D

Having him in the camera frame was awesome enough.

Oh yes David Warner was excellent in Chain of Command, also Elizabeth Dennehy as Shelby in BOBW1&2, loved having a strong female guest star that wasn't a love interest for once!

Joe Piscapo!

No, wait, Lawrence Tierney.

You know, if you look back at the early 80s SNL (my fav time period for SNL) Eddie Murphy became the big star, but Piscopo was probably a lot more funny, and without the two of them together that show wouldn't have been as good.

I would say Ashley Judd. I liked her in "The Game" being a friend for Wesley while they were dealing with members of the Enterprise who have become addicted to a game at this point.

My favorites were probably Tony Todd as Kurn and Andreas Katsulas as Tomolak. They are just both really captivating actors.

Wow, that is a fantastic list, od0. I don't think I could do better on my own, except that I'd add Dwight Schultz as Reg Barclay. I *love* Reg - one of my favorite Trek characters. I also agree with those who mentioned Matt Frewer as Berlinghoff Rasmussen as well as Andreas Katsulas as Tomolak.
