I asked this in the Voyager thread a way back as an excuse to share some of my favourites, whereas with Enterprise I'm looking for recommendations. I've never really given the series a real chance but watched a few recently (Dead Stop, Resurrection, Impulse) and enjoyed them. Would like to keep watching some standalone episodes ideally, but don't mind about going between different seasons, or encountering a mild spoiler, etc.
What would you recommend??
Enterprise is probably my favorite of the Star Trek series and I actually like the first couple of seasons better than the Xindi War and its aftermath.
Here are the ones I ended up watching multiple times:
Breaking the Ice: T’Pol deals with problems with her engagement and the expectations of her culture, a jerky Vulcan commander, and humans reading her private mail because they think she’s telling Vulcans about ship operations when she agreed not to. Trip offers advice and the ice is broken.
Shuttlepod One— Trip and Malcolm are stranded in a shuttle, think they’re going to die and Enterprise was destroyed. Malcolm writes goodbye letters to all his past girlfriends. Trip is annoyed. Trip decides to sacrifice himself to give Malcolm more time and Malcolm pulls a phaser and won’t let him do it. They eject the warp core to get the ship’s attention. They get drunk on the captain’s private stash. Very funny and a good character episode. This is where Trip and Malcolm become good buddies.
The Xindi— start of the Xindi conflict with Enterprise sent to the Expanse to find a way to defeat them. This is a good action episode with MACOs sent in to rescue Archer and Trip after they are captured.
Vanishing Point: Hoshi Sato thinks she has been made invisible by the transporter and has to rescue the ship from aliens. Good character study for Hoshi. Season Two.
Two Days and Two Nights: Another Trip and Malcolm episode. Trip and Malcolm go club hopping in Risa and don’t find what they expected. Season One.
Broken Bow: First season opener, a good introduction to the characters and the whole set up.
Minefield: The Enterprise tangles with some Romulans, Malcolm is injured trying to disarm a mine, Captain Archer assists him, talks with Malcolm, refuses to let him sacrifice himself. Another good character study episode for Malcolm and Archer. Season Two.
Dawn — Trip gets stranded on a planet with a crewman from an enemy ship and without a translator and has to figure out how to communicate with the alien. Season Two.
Observer Effect. Trip and Hoshi are exposed to a silicone based virus and are dying. Organians are observing to see how the ship’s captain will handle the situation and take over the bodies of different crew members during their science experiment.
Harbinger — a Season Three episode with some funny scenes between Malcolm and Hayes, the MACO commander and Trip and T’Pol getting intimate.
Bound: Orion “slave girls” take over the ship and use their pheremones to influence the men, but there are some surprises.
Sleeping Dogs: The Enterprise tries to help some ungrateful Klingons. Season One.
The Andorian Incident, Season 1, Episode 7 — Andorians vs. Vulcans and humans trying to navigate it, T’Pol learning some things she doesn’t like about her people, the introduction of Shran
