Favourite Standalone Episodes

Would Exile be considered a stand alone? Yeah it set up the next episode but for the most part it was it's own contained story. I just watched that episode the other night and it was pretty good. It's not often we get Hoshi stories so that was nice.

Acquisition - Trip saving the ship from Ferengi in his undercrackers

Pretty sure "undercrackers" is going to be my word of the week. Thanks for that one. (And I'll go along with the consensus that Mr. Trinneer does a pretty good job of running around the galaxy in his, er, undercrackers. Even a high-minded, serious franchise about humanity's future needs to have some fun now and again, right?) Plus, Acquisition re-introduced that cool Ferengi phaser-whip thingy that blew my very young mind in TNG S1 but was never seen again until this episode! ("Why aren't you asleep?" ...ZAP!)

While not standalone episodes on their own, I did like the different mini-arcs in Season 4. If it's raining, nothing to do around the house, no new movies on, someone could easily just pick the start of any one of those arcs and it's kind of like watching a Netflix limited series production. 3-4 episodes a piece, a little escapism, not a huge commitment. :bolian:

- Ha ha! I'm glad "undercrackers" tickled your fancy (the term was introduced to me by a friend about 10-15 years ago, and I try and keep it in rotation).

I'd forgotten that the energy whip featured in "Acquisition" (must have been concentrating on the barely clothed Mr Trinneer...). It also appears in Lower Decks: "Mugato, Gumato" :D

I asked this in the Voyager thread a way back as an excuse to share some of my favourites, whereas with Enterprise I'm looking for recommendations. I've never really given the series a real chance but watched a few recently (Dead Stop, Resurrection, Impulse) and enjoyed them. Would like to keep watching some standalone episodes ideally, but don't mind about going between different seasons, or encountering a mild spoiler, etc.

What would you recommend??

Enterprise is probably my favorite of the Star Trek series and I actually like the first couple of seasons better than the Xindi War and its aftermath.
Here are the ones I ended up watching multiple times:
Breaking the Ice: T’Pol deals with problems with her engagement and the expectations of her culture, a jerky Vulcan commander, and humans reading her private mail because they think she’s telling Vulcans about ship operations when she agreed not to. Trip offers advice and the ice is broken.

Shuttlepod One— Trip and Malcolm are stranded in a shuttle, think they’re going to die and Enterprise was destroyed. Malcolm writes goodbye letters to all his past girlfriends. Trip is annoyed. Trip decides to sacrifice himself to give Malcolm more time and Malcolm pulls a phaser and won’t let him do it. They eject the warp core to get the ship’s attention. They get drunk on the captain’s private stash. Very funny and a good character episode. This is where Trip and Malcolm become good buddies.

The Xindi— start of the Xindi conflict with Enterprise sent to the Expanse to find a way to defeat them. This is a good action episode with MACOs sent in to rescue Archer and Trip after they are captured.

Vanishing Point: Hoshi Sato thinks she has been made invisible by the transporter and has to rescue the ship from aliens. Good character study for Hoshi. Season Two.

Two Days and Two Nights: Another Trip and Malcolm episode. Trip and Malcolm go club hopping in Risa and don’t find what they expected. Season One.

Broken Bow: First season opener, a good introduction to the characters and the whole set up.

Minefield: The Enterprise tangles with some Romulans, Malcolm is injured trying to disarm a mine, Captain Archer assists him, talks with Malcolm, refuses to let him sacrifice himself. Another good character study episode for Malcolm and Archer. Season Two.

Dawn — Trip gets stranded on a planet with a crewman from an enemy ship and without a translator and has to figure out how to communicate with the alien. Season Two.

Observer Effect. Trip and Hoshi are exposed to a silicone based virus and are dying. Organians are observing to see how the ship’s captain will handle the situation and take over the bodies of different crew members during their science experiment.

Harbinger — a Season Three episode with some funny scenes between Malcolm and Hayes, the MACO commander and Trip and T’Pol getting intimate.

Bound: Orion “slave girls” take over the ship and use their pheremones to influence the men, but there are some surprises.

Sleeping Dogs: The Enterprise tries to help some ungrateful Klingons. Season One.

The Andorian Incident, Season 1, Episode 7 — Andorians vs. Vulcans and humans trying to navigate it, T’Pol learning some things she doesn’t like about her people, the introduction of Shran

Well, I've got Two Days and Two Nights on in the background whilst doing a few other little chores around the apartment, and Mr Trinneer, Mr Montgomery and Mr Keating are all sporting the blue undercrackers in that one...but that's certainly devolving into an entirely different thread. :guffaw: Though I have to say, between her appearance in this and also Dear Doctor, I wish they'd delved a little deeper into crewman Cutler's character. She could have had a really interesting recurring role! (Again, off topic. Sorry...sparkles and goldfish LOL :rommie:)

One of the early Enterprise novels had Crewman Cutler and Enterprise members playing Dungeons and dragons. She had a nice story arc in the novel and helped Phlox solve an alien mystery too.

First flight - I like anything showing the early years of starfleet. I'd like more of this stuff. And the enterprise era is my favourite for episodes set on earth as it just feels more realistic in terms of what our future could be like.

Carbon creek - just a nice episode with a lot of heart and vulcans inventing velcro. I wonder if Mistral was still around for first contact.

Twilight. - Even though there's no stakes (unless enterprise is the first trek you've ever seen) I enjoy it. I'd like to see some stories showing what the galaxy is like in the tos and tng eras where the events of this episode actually happened.

Clearly no Federation, do the sphere builders win? Does the Dominion war still happen? Does Q find an interest in Gul Dukat instead?

Nearing the end of S1. I watched Acquisition & Oasis today.

Really good episodes with some serious Star Trek royalty.

Acquisition: Jeffrey Combs, Ethan Phillips & Clint Howard as 3 of the Ferengi.
Oasis: Annie Wersching & René Auberjonois

I like the Enterprise season 2 show with the wisps and creepy space ship. Sorry I can't remember the name of the show.

Thanks after watching so many different Star Trek tv series it's hard to remember the names of certain shows.

I like Horizons we get to meet Travis Mayweather's family having to battle space pirates and Trip inviting T'Pol to movie night to see Frankenstein .

I have a few:
1) Cease fire (Treaty between Vulcans and Andorians)
2) Fallen Hero (Warp 5 baby!)
3) Future Tense (Mystery galor)
4) Regeneration (Borg)
5) Impulse (Vulcan Zombies)
6) Home (Aftermath of the Xindi arc
