Favourite sport film?

Which one of the Major League films had this scene? I forgot.

"That wouldn't have been out of a lot of parks."
"Name ONE!"
(pause) "Yellowstone."

:guffaw:

That was an outtake from Major League.

It was used in ads, but did not appear in the theatrical release.

Slapshot - just a classic, nuff said.

Caddyshack - you can't beat Rodney and Chevy's one liners, and Lacey.....ahhhh Lacey.

The Program - just an awesome college football movie, James Caan is effing fantastic.

Monaco to Monza!

Grand Prix, while the story is pretty dull between races, and the acting not of the highest calibur, the racing itself is absolutely stunning!
Beautiful mid 60's Formula 1 cars, before high wings & tobacco advertising.
With actual race footage shot from a helecopter and Phil Hill in a modified Ford GT40 camera car mixed seamlessly with actors on rigs or in dressed-up F3 cars!:techman:

Also love Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, and Major League.:) Baseball really does seem to be the perfect sport to put on film, with The Natural, and For the Love of the Game two other noteworthy films.

That's because you can eliminate the game's tedium, which is endemic, through the wonders of editing. Baseball is like watching the grass grow.

Mortal Kombat?

Just kidding.

I love Bull Durham, Rocky, and a host of others.

My favorite film about my favorite sport would have to be...
a great little comedy about a guy having the day of his life at the race track.
Also, is another fine film about the Sport Of Kings!

No, you got it all wrong. You can't beat anything that comes out of Carl Spackler's mouth. ;)

"So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."

Yeah, I only saw the first. The first is great, but I usually don't have faith in sequels to movies like that.

I'll go with Sandlot as my favorite, since I loved it as a kid. I'll add remember the Titans, Major League, and Field of Dreams as well, since they all kick ass for different reasons.

I think its because baseball is naturally dramatic, not very exciting, but dramatic. So is boxing, though that sport IS exciting. Both sports seem to have the most good movies made about them.

For those who haven't seen Major League II, I would suggest taking a look at it. I saw that one before I saw Major League and loved both. It's not a bad sequel at all.

Cinderella Man and Tin Cup are two of my favorites. I also like the first three recent Disney sports films (Remember The Titans, The Rookie, and Miracle) but have not seen three others that I actually own on DVD but will get around one day to watch them (The Greatest Game Ever Played, Glory Road, and Invincible).

It's a documentary so maybe it doesn't count, but I really liked Murderball. You guys have mentioned most of the other ones I've liked - jerks! :p
