Agreed, it's a great song. Just one little nitpick:“The Boxer” is just epic, what a wonderful song. Lai la lai!
Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
But I get no offers
Just a come-on from the whores on Seventh Avenue.
I do declare
There were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there . . .
So, if he had no job, how did he pay them?

Years after he wrote them, Paul Simon said “I Am a Rock,” and some of his other early songs like “Dangling Conversations,” were far from his best work. He considered them to be “freshman poetry.”Of the songs listed, “The Boxer” is my favorite. ”I Am A Rock” should have been on this list, though.
