Favourite Riker Moments

One of mine (and there are many) is when he first arrives onboard and, right away, Picard has him rejoin the separated saucer section to the rest of the ship. Its a great introduction for the character, I've always thought ...

... What are your favourite Riker moments?

I really liked him in Conundrum. Despite the end being a little awkward for him, no one benefitted more from having the slate wiped clean than him & Ro. Those two needed to move past their prejudices towards one another

He's actually a pretty good advisor to his friends too. In The Enemy, when Worf comes to him about the dying Romulan, or when Data comes to him about Jenna D'Sora, & in all honesty, I think he was very considerate & helpful with Troi's commander's exam

His best moments imho, are the small ones, when he's relaxed, or in the background, or playing off someone else, like Worf wanting him to aid in his suicide, in Ethics. He's even got some some funny moments like giving Worf's kid jazz music, or ribbing him about looking good in a dress uniform, in Liasons

All the best Riker moments were compiled for us in an episode, Shades Of Grey! I liked a lot of his scenes in the early seasons, when he got a lot of action; encountering Armus and get enveloped by him in Skin Of Evil, pretending to be one of the parasite hosts in Conspiracy, where he almost eats grubs, his ballsyness in A Matter of Honor when he mutinys against the Klingon captain..

One moment I really love is his reaction when he discovers he has been cloned against his will in Up The Long Ladder. Its a really eerie moment(perfectly acted by Frakes) and in typical Riker fashion he takes charge and goes to the cloning lab to destroy his clone.

Riker became my favorite character in "The Last Outpost" for the way he led the away mission. I loved the scene where he faces down Portal.

I like when he went bonkers in that episode with the play.

I also like how in season one when he would enter the turbolift he would spin around and face the door literally right in front of it. What the hell was up with that anyway? Do you suppose he kept on staring at the door even when someone talked to him?

It was a dramatic flair...an important Away mission was at hand and Riker wanted to show he means business.

Some of Frakes theatricality with his physical acting as Riker reminds me of Shatner. And I don't mean that in a bad way.

I have always said that Riker played off extremely well with others.

His scenes with Data... suicide talk with Worf... helping Troi with her exam... command advice to Wesley... talking to Geordi about losing his mom.

He had some great episodes devoted to him, too. You have to give Frakes a lot of credit... he was down for pretty much anything. Even being covered in metamucil oil.

Some of my personal favorite moments are the poker games. He really seemed like a fun guy to hang around, which is pretty much Frakes himself at conventions. Having been around him multiple times at conventions, he is someone you just like to be around. Positive, fun, good natured, and great sense of humor.

I feel my all time favorite was from Gambit part 2, at the very end. He's teasing Jean-Luc about being dead and unable to resume command, and Jean-Luc reciprocates by telling Will he's been declared a renegade and traitor, so he'll get some rest while Mr Data takes Will to the brig. I love Will's expression while he and his captain are joking, but Data took it very literally and escorts Will to prison, I just love his reaction, oh dear I always thought that was really funny.

Overall I do love how he's generally very kind to people, he seems very warm most of the time, with of course some very glaring exceptions I guess, lol. He reminds me of like good bosses I've had who care about you and your development, who you can go to and everything, if I'm making sense?

I'm particularly fond of what's actually a kind of non-moment: when in "The Child," Riker just hangs back without interfering with Data's "supporting," I guess, Troi's giving birth. Riker's kind of been distancing himself from Dee, since she found out she was pregnant and now that the moment arrives, he's there to witness it, only revealing himself at the appropriate time. He could've jumped in to say, "See, Deanna? I'm here!" but he respects the moment and I don't know ... it's just cool, that's all:

Riker doesn't get nearly enough credit for blowing up that borg cube. The crew was saying maybe we should study it while it's asleep and he's like, I don't think so *boom* I think he would be famous for that but no one ever brings it up again. He would forever be "Riker the borg killer"

He also advocated destroying the crystalline entity in a similar situation. Jellico didn't get to know him well enough to realize he was the most no-nonsense guy that gets stuff done on the crew. He had no hesitation making the tough calls against that cube "you heard me! A collision course!"

I bet in that alternate universe in "Parallels" Riker was holding his own against the borg for a long time, blowing up borg cubes left and right. I kind of wish they let him take out the borg in First Contact as well
