Favourite lit characters

It seriously warms my heart to see Nan Bacco on so many people's lists.
Along with a number of other characters you created or developed.
I'm gratified to see three of mine: T'Ryssa, Torvig, and Val Williams. Plus Tev and Choudhury, whom I did not create but did introduce and help define.
Yes, but Bacco -- based as she is on my late great-grandmother -- has a special place in my heart.It seriously warms my heart to see Nan Bacco on so many people's lists.
Along with a number of other characters you created or developed.
Bacco just fits in with whatever story she's in. The administration never feels forced in the novels and she always feels like an integral part to the story.

A prattling windbag who can't make a speech to save his life (someone revoke this man's Cardassian Card at once!) but who's quite endearing in his way. He claims Raknal V for the Union and serves as the governor of the Cardassian colony.

I'm not as well-rounded in my trek reading as most everyone else on here seems to be; I have really only read Voyager books. That said, I have to give a shout out to the many new characters that Kirsten Beyer has introduced. I'm generally wary of new "main" characters being introduced for a number of reasons but she has done an amazing job of introducing these characters and incorporating them in with the existing characters and making the reader care about them. And I imagine that's not an easy thing to do.
To answer the question, my favorite new character so far is Captain Regina Farkas. She may not be as complicated or complex of a character as so many of the other new characters, but that's what I like about her. I love how she is portrayed as a genuine person and capable leader. Any time she's in a scene, she just has a sort of reassuring presence about her that seems to leap off the page and really stands out to me. She's the most "real" of the new characters to me and I look forward to seeing more of her.

There are so many great lit characters I know I'm going to forget to mention some of them.
I'm a massive fan of New Frontier, and they include some really great characters, Mackenzie, Burgoyne, Soletta, McHenry. I'm so psyched that New Frontier is coming back!

I'm also really fond of Keru, who's been around for a long time in various series before becoming a regular in Titan. Isn't it time he got a new boyfriend? He's been in mourning nearly 20 years in real time.

I like Keru, too. And would be happy for him, if he finds someone. There is obviously no lack of interest, but it hasn´t really clicked yet

Then there's Ro, who - to the best of my knowledge, anyway - has been romantically attached to exactly one person ever: Will Riker, under the effects of amnesia.
But really, I care more about the story than anything else. I don't want to see everyone pair off just for the sake of pairing off.

And Quark, in the DS9 novels.
Yes, some people do grieve for their whole lives. But Keru is arguably the most prominent gay male character in Trek Lit. It can feel a little convenient to keep him single in mourning forever. Is there another prominent male couple in Trek lit? The only one I can think of is Bart from SCE, and while I haven't read the later SCE stories yet, I believe that his relationship ended too, because he didn't want a commitment, and that was maybe a decade ago.
It is a common trope for gay characters to be recently widowed and left grieving so the story doesn't require putting them in an actual relationship. I'm not assigning nefarious motives to anyone, but he still falls into a common trope. I wouldn't mind it so bad if there was another male couple around in the very large Litverse.
