William Campbell will always be Trelane as far as I'm concerned. He already had a legendary and memorable character to be associated with.

No disrespect to William Campbell, but Koloth and Trelane were simply too much alike.

In TOS, anyway. Koloth got the chance to act a bit differently when he was on DS9.

Great picture, Lethe. I remember white eyeliner.

(Mara was an engineer, like B'Elanna and her mother.)

As I recall, Mara was Kang's science officer.

Poor Koloth never gets as much love as Kor and Kang, but I agree -- he got a chance to be bad-ass in DSN.

Kang. Michael Ansara excels at this kind of roll.

Compared to their appearances in DS9, Kang doesn't change a bit. Kor is much mellower (as much as a Klingon warrior can be mellow). Koloth is exactly the opposite. He has lost all pretentiousness of charm and is cold as ice. Kang is still Kang. All-business. All deadly.

KANG.

You might be surprised how many people didn't and still don't get the Simpsons references being from TREK.

Kang? Kodos?

After close to twenty years you'd think more Simpsons fans would get the TREK nods...but oh well.

Even though they are related..i.e. created by the same person, I see a lot more references in Futurama....

Oh, Futurama is lousy with Trek references. But The Simpsons is a freakin' American institution and here's a fairly obscure Trek reference that's been a running gag for decades.

Sorry but where's "Bob The Discount Klingon"?..no matter..I have him..

Now..THAT'S a Klingon...

Bob the Discount Klingon.

So non-descript, even the people of Landru think he's dull.

Yes - I'll third that. "Bob the Discount Klingon" it is, then. He was certainly an interesting addition to the ethos of Klingon culture: yes, they could indeed be spineless, conviving little shits... :techman:

Besides, I remembered Tige Andrews from "The Mod Squad"...

Koloth, for two reasons:

1) I tend to look like Koloth.
2) William Campbell was deliciously over the top.

^The only worse Klingon I can think of: Kor's lieutenant, the one Kirk strongarms.

Yet, strangely, with his facial features and darker makeup he LOOKED more exotic and Klingon-like than some others early on in TOS. More menacing face and eyebrows. Go figure.

Koloth, he didn't need to be painted in dark colors to look diabolic (goatie, widow's peek) - but with an ironic touch. Reminds of a top villain of film noir - Dan Duryea (this guy was blond).
As Kor John Colicos reminds me of Edward G. Robinson, another film noir star famous for his portrayals of gangsters, Little Cesar, Johnny Rocco ...
Kang Michael Ansara was also great as Klingon commander.
Does anyone know why only Kor and Kang wore the sash and Koloth didn't?
