Forgive me, Christopher, but I have to correct you on this point. Destiny was absolutely not a tie-in to the new Star Trek movie in any way, shape, or form. In fact, the content of the trilogy was developed specifically to avoid any potential content-related conflicts between the two.And yes, the Destiny trilogy was intended to be a tie-in to the movie. But that only affects the content of the books, not the number of them, since Destiny takes up three spaces in the regular monthly release schedule for mass-market paperbacks. If it hadn't been Destiny, it would've been three other books.

That said, I certainly was hoping that the timing of the trilogy's release would coincide with that of the movie, and that the attendant peak of fan interest in the franchise at that time would spur stronger sales of the trilogy. Alas, that is not to be.
Like I ever pay attention to what KRAD says...Yeah, it was. (I remember because I bitched about it). But KRAD recently reposted his list, and you'll see he has (tp) next to that entry.
