Favorite New Shows This Fall

What are your favorite new shows this fall?

I don't think any of the new shows are amazing or anything but there's a few interesting ones.

LOVE IT: nothing

LIKE IT:

1. The Event. It's no LOST but I'm definitely interested in the story. The timeline jumping is extremely annoying though.

2. No Ordinary Family. I didn't care for the pilot but I'm slowly warming to the show.

3. Running Wilde. A lesser follow up to Arrested but it's definitely clever and funny. Of course with the quickly tanking ratings it's guaranteed for cancellation

4. Outsourced. I think it's a good addition to the NBC comedy night and it does make me laugh, though I'm missin' Parks.

KINDA LIKE IT:

5. Raising Hope. Basically My Name Is Earl Part Two, only not as funny and with less interesting characters.

6. Mike and Molly. Crass but a few laughs.

7. Shat My Dad Says. only watched the pilot but it was alright, just for Shat of course.

NOT GONNA BOTHER:

8. Undercovers. I guess a spy tv show with no genre elements whatsoever just doesn't hold my interest.

9. Hawaii 5-0. watched the pilot, looked pretty, but that was it.

The new shows are terrible. I'm barely maintaining interest in The Event, and No Ordinary Family is almost off the menu. When does that zombie show debut, anyway? That might save the season from being a total washout. Zombies to the rescue!

The only new show I'm watching is The Event--I thought I'd dump it fairly quickly based on its first two episodes but the show has improved over the last two and I plan on sticking with it. I like that it has a smaller cast, slower pacing, fewer plot threads per hour and has pretty much dispensed with the gimmicks. The characters aren't exactly riveting but the storylines are entertaining and has me looking forward to them each week.

The rest of the new stuff I thought was pretty much crap--No Ordinary Family, The Whole Truth, Chase, L&O:LA etc or not my cup of tea i.e. Blue Bloods.

I'm mainly just sticking with returning shows like Chuck, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Life Unexpected, Fringe(which has been more consistent this season) and Supernatural--which I've lost almost all interest in--S5 should have been it for them.

But for the most part tv has gone down the crapper over the last decade with recycled tired storylines, weak writers, uninteresting characters, ADHD pacing, too complicated storytelling. Shows need to get back to the basics.

A month in, the only shows I've stuck with are two comedies - Raising Hope and Better With You. I watched the pilot of No Ordinary Family and still have the last two episodes waiting for me but haven't bothered to watch them yet.

I've been watching "The Event," which is ok enough for now. "Hawaii 5-O" is a decent distraction when I'm doing something else and need the background noise. I watched the pilot for "No Ordinary Family" and have no intention of going back.

But I have very high hopes for AMC's "The Walking Dead" in a few weeks!

Not bad, but not great/Missed a few episodes and don't care: Hawaii Five-0, Shattered
Gave up on: Blue Bloods, Hellcats, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Nikita, Outlaw

I've been watching Raising Hope and Running Wilde. I don't think Running Wilde is going to survive. Arnett is too smarmy for the mainstream, I think.

As stated before, Raising Hope is My Name is Earl II, but since I absolutely loved that show, that's okay with me. Hope is not as good, but has its moments....

I have The Event in TiVo, but haven't watched any of it yet.

I agree there is nothing that i love..

But I like.

Better with You- I love Jonanna Garcia. stunningly beautiful. Jennifer Finnegan is hot too and add in a great supporting cast and good laughs and you've got a very good comedy half hour.

The Event- So far it's quite enjoyable. Not on a scale with Lost but most certainly worth watching.

Hawaii Five-O I like the show. A decent cop show.

$#*! My Dad Says- Shatner is good in his role.. don't like the son so much but it gets some decent laughs. Not as good as Better With You though.

So far Boardwalk Empire and Blue Bloods are really impressing the hell out of me. Shit My Dad Says has been somewhat entertaining, but that's primarily due to Shatner.

One of the things I'm learning about myself from this thread and Jax's rating threads is that with one or two exceptions, I'm out of step with what the viewing public likes. I really haven't found one of the new shows that I've actually watched that I haven't really liked with the exception of Hawaii:NCIS.

I'm discovering that I really like Detroit 1-8-7 but it's ratings slide suggest I won't be enjoying long term. I'm really liking The Defenders on CBS but again it's ratings might be such that it can't survive. No Ordinary Family is interesting, of course I like anything with Chiklis. I'm loving Shit My Dad Says and Mike and Molly is okay too. And I like Blue Bloods.

Really all of these shows are on my "must see TV" list right now. I've felt like overall, this has been one of the better crops of new shows in a long time.

What I've stuck with are Outsourced and $#*! My Dad Says. I find the former to be fairly decent and the later to be a show gelling towards being a good show. I have the most interest in $#*! My Dad Says.

I saw one episode of Chase, could take it or leave it. Don't feel like sitting through Mike & Molly. An 18 minute show with 14 minutes of fat jokes doesn't appeal to me.
Not a cop show fan so Blue Bloods and Defenders were never going to get a shot. I may try out H5O cause of some of the sci-fi veterans cast but haven't yet. Same for lawyer shows, Outlaw never registered my 'try it out meter'.

I'd still like to try out No Ordinary Family, haven't gotten to that yet though.

The new shows this season really are terrible. I mean, some are watchable, but none stand out as hits or as something that I see myself continuing with even for a few episodes. I have been watching The Event, but each week I find myself paying less and less attention to what's going on in the show and more to doing other things around the house while it's on. No Ordinary Family is okay but just seems to be missing something. I really have little desire to continue watching it.

I'm still watching The Event, but it hasn't completely grabbed me yet.
No Ordinary Family is cute. Nothing earth-shattering, but it's fun to have something to watch with my family.
I caught Sherlock on English TV and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! It's debuting in the US in a week or so - definitely my favorite new show in awhile.
Blue Bloods is surprisingly good. I never get tired of Tom Selleck.

I despised Hawaii Five-0. I can't believe people are enjoying it - honestly, I couldn't even get through the pilot. Same for Outlaw - they were both awful formulaic junk ... like 90% of what's on TV.

The thing with ratings is they no longer matter.

Look at NBC, everythnig on the network would have been canceled by every other network, but they can't do that. The sad thing is they should have kept The Jay Leno Show, but give the affiliates the choice to show that or start their news at 10.

CBS has overall viewers, but they are older and usually ads like young people for no reason. So they have higher, but different standards of shows.

ABC is in the same boat as NBC was years ago, their top shows are aging and they have nothing to replace them with.The only show that newer and doing well is Castle and that's because it gets the best timeslot on ABC.

Then there is Fox and who knows what they are thinking.
