Favorite Logo

I LOVE this logo.

It's a clever blend of the Pertwee/McGann logo and the Pertwee/Baker Diamond Logo.

I found it here:

There were several very good logos in that thread, IMHO!

While I agree that the diamond logo is sort of the classic Doctor Who logo these days, for me, it's without a doubt the neon logo as my favorite. I must have traced that thing a thousand times as a kid.

I'm voting for the first Pertwee/TVM logo (I consider them to be the same logo - tweaks don't count). It just seems to be more timeless and, at the same time, more futuristic than the others. I'm glad the BBC has decided to use it for most classic-series related merchandise.

I've nothing against the diamond or neon logos, or the Hartnell and Troughton logos, but they're products of their time. The neon logo says "80s" to me just as much as the Howell arrangement of the theme (why they're using it for all the DVD releases is beyond me).

I've never cared for the McCoy logo. Something about it just rubbed me the wrong way and I was glad to see it replaced by the TVM logo.

As for the lozenge logo of Eccleston and Tennant (and again I'm not paying attention to the minor adjustments made to it over the last few years), I've never been a hater of it. It works perfectly on television, especially with DW now being produced in widescreen, but it looks damn awkward on the book covers. It works OK on DWM for some reason, though.

I'm looking forward to what the Matt Smith logo will look like (it's even money they'll create a new logo, especially if the BBC is indeed planning to refer to the 2010 season as "Series 1" again).

I like the diamond-shaped one.

I always thought it was pretty cool.

I like this one, too. Is it just me or does anyone else think that this is styled on looking down on the Doctor's TARDIS from above? I've always thought that... I fear I may be alone.

Unless my worldview is so smegged up that it's not even funny, your idea is actually widely held.

Personally I'd never heard that before, myself, but it certainly makes sense!

Yeah, that's a new one on me, too... but it makes sense. When I was a kid, I had a blurred memory of the Tom Baker opening titles, and I could have sworn that the TARDIS sort of tumbled end over end and that the diamond logo appeared on the bottom of the police box... I was disappointed to find that I was wrong, the next time the local PBS station worked around to Tom Baker again.

I dislike the Modern Who logo. A scary fiery eye-ball? Sure, the Doctor goes on cool adventures and meets up with all sorts of aleins and monsters, but it just looks so cold and mean-spirited to me.

I like the diamond shaped logo but it looks an awful lot like it could be a badge swen onto a boy/girl scout's uniform.

I guess I'd have to go with the TV Movie logo. In my heart, though, the defininitive Dr. Who logo hasn't been designed yet.

The "diamond" logo for me, but I prefer it in its proper colours:

not the weird multi-coloured version they used on merchandise.
