Favorite 'Little' Moments Of TNG...

"Sarek" - Not exactly a little moment because it was an incredible performance by Sir Patrick Stewart, but the scene in his quarters while being hit with Sarek's emotions after the meld. THAT was some phenomenal acting there. My wife very rightly said, "He never even got nominated for an Emmy while being Captain Picard? That's criminal."

"Menage a Troi"
- When Picard tries to 'win back' Lwaxana. That whole scene was priceless.

I remember my mother watching that, who was interested in science fiction going back to Things to Come... and she thought Picard was making a fool of himself. I was disappointed... People sometimes respond that way to Benny's breakdown in DS9's Far Beyond the Stars.

It's occurred to me that people going through overwhelming emotion don't have the luxury of appearing dignified.

For me, it's two or three main thinbgs

1) ever time Deanna smiled. (she had a really warm smile which I loved)
2) Every time picard would quote a line from shakespeare I always enjoyed,
3) Guinan's words of wisdom and encouragement. (Any scene between picard and guinan (or between guinan and other crew members) was always intresting to listen to.

Mine is an effect related little moment. In Where Silence Has Lease when Riker beams on the the fake Yamato the transporter beam can be seen in the wall panel reflection. That was always there, not added for bluray. Very neat attention to detail.

That Q episode with the young lady Q apprentice (was it True Q? Q Who? Something like that.), that scene in which Picard gives Q a long, moralistic lecture about this girl's basic rights. Then Q simply smiles and sarcastically says, "You know, Jean-Luc, sometimes I think the only reason I keep coming back here is to listen to your WONDERFUL little speeches."

The one line by Riker in Schisms when he is in the holodeck along with Deanna, Worf, Geordi and a woman I can’t remember the name of. “We’ve all been here before.” The constant background clicking and ominous atmosphere the scene creates makes it a favorite for me

After Pulaski helps Worf recover from an embarrassing Klingon's childhood illness, Worf honours her by performing the Klingon Tea Ceremony. I love that scene.

Captain Picard Day at the beginning of Pegasus was a lot of fun.

At the start of Opid, I also love when Vash comes on-board and causes such awkwardness for Picard by revealing their relationship on Risa to Crusher and then Riker. :D

Riker getting caught in a noose in the corridor by one of the duelling delegates.

And Tasha having to awkwardly explain that one of those delegates probably accidentally got cooked in the kitchen.

I was 7 years old in the winter of '85/86. The fervor around Halley's Comet ignited my budding interest in space/astronomy/scifi, and the Teacher in Space scuttlebutt just added another layer. Needless to say, January 28, 1986 was the first "I remember what I was doing when..." moment of my life.

So this was one of my favorite little moments of TNG:

I loved that scene from "Sarek" when Picard first confronts Sarek about his "Ben-dai" syndrome and asks him, "You still haven't answered my question, sir: is it logical for a Vulcan to cry?" Then as their argument gets more heated Picard tells him, "Sarek of Vulcan would NEVER be afraid of looking at a truth he didn't want to see. Sarek of Vulcan would NEVER mistake what he wanted with the truth!"

Riker working on Data's head in Disaster.

Data: You must now change the input matrix in my secondary optical port and then connect the ODN conduit.

Data's eye closes

Data: That is not the correct port, Sir.

Riker: Sorry.

Data: Commander, you must hurry. The field has dropped to 16%

Riker: I'm trying. You need a bigger head

Data throws him a look. lol I always think of that scene when Picard works on his head in Time's Arrow.

Not so much a favorite moment as a favorite use of technology...

In "Identity Crisis", Geordi uses the holodeck to go over the away team visual record. It is an excellent use of the holodeck, and I am surprised it's not used more often in the franchise.

Another time it was used this well was "Schisms". A note... Brannon Braga did the teleplay for both. Braga, for all his faults, was very imaginative, and I do applaud him for using the holodeck this way.

(And speaking of "Identity Crisis", Riker and Crusher could very well have been infected and start turning years later, with Worf possibly being immune. Given it took 5 years for the people of that episode, this would have happened while they were on the Enterprise-E. Just a thought...)

Jellico's elephant drawing scene. This one moment, in what was otherwise a fevered rush to stop a breakout of war, is maybe the only time we meet the man, & he's a good & decent man seen there. It's the artifact of evidence that suggests a guy who might otherwise be an entirely different person, were he not boxed in to this crisis, where everything he was doing (or made to do) was nonnegotiable. It's the flag being waved that says this is not a man to vilify

In Rascals when Picard is returned to his own body, he immediately reaches up and runs his hand over his bald head.
In Bloodlines when Picard talks about what being the guys father means..I"m not sure what that means but one thing is for sure, you'll never look at your hairline the same.

In the Price when Riker tells the slimy guy congratulations on winning the rights to the worm hole

And from the Royale

LaForge: "I'm comparing the molecular integrity of that bubble against our phasers."
Picard: "Is penetration possible?"
LaForge: "I don't know just yet, it may be an option. I'd like to run this test."
Picard: "Make it so."

In Preemptive Strike when Ro is undercover, the old man says "But I've known all along in your heart, you are one of us." Then they each give a look to each other where they both understand the truth.

Picard giving Data's advice hunting about Jenna D'Sora the quick brush off "I'd be delighted to offer you any advice I have on understanding women. As soon as I have some, I'll let you know" :guffaw:

I love how he tries to make a hasty retreat before Data asks the question but doesn't quite make it to his Ready Room in time.

'The Measure of a Man'; Data meticulously unwrapping a gift without tearing the wrapping paper;
WESLEY: "Data, you're supposed to rip the wrapping off."
DATA: "With the application of a little care, Wes, the paper can be utilised again."
WESLEY: "Data, you're missing the point."
He's succeeded in removing the book without damaging the paper but now rips it in two.

'Suddenly Human';
JONO: "I don't like this place."
PICARD: "We could find some other quarters."
JONO: "I've always lived with my Captain."
PICARD: "Ah. Yes, well... that wouldn't work here."
Jump cut to them entering Picard's quarters;
PICARD: "Well, I'm sure you'll see there's nothing here to appeal to a young person."

It's all in the timing of the cut and Patrick Stewart's delivery.
