Well, for me, it's all the build up of her Vulcan upbringing only to see her act so un-Vulcan like. I know, there's lots of excuses for that, but if she isn't going to act at least half Vulcan, why bother to have her raised on Vulcan from a small child? To look at her character right now, it's as if all that Vulcan stuff is just there to plug a few plot holes when needed. A lot of Star Trek characters never develop until after a season or two, maybe Burnham will be one of those. Right now she's just flat uninteresting and very un-Vulcan. I don't buy this Burnham/Tyler stuff at all.

I'd rather see Tyler and Tilly doin' the space shag.
That's part of Michael's appeal. She was raised one way, had that taken away, raised another way, had that taken away, trained to be a Starfleet officer, and made one choice and lost that. Her story is one of self-discovery and identify formation while enduring trauma and loss at a lot of different steps.

She definitely feels very dynamic to me.

We are drawn to Captains. Try as they might to make the protagonist someone who is not the Captain it hasn't entirely convinced. Not even a little.

Burnham is much too emotional for someone raised on Vulcan. And the romance is just lame.

It's a pity; I like Burnham, but, well, I don't know. Something's lacking.

I think Burnham's problem is that because she is human she was never able to fully repress her emotions, but she also never learned how to deal with them. She ends up being Logical when she should be emotional and emotional when she should be logical. She is a mess and i do think that comes across the way Martin-Green plays her, but that's just my take.

You are right. Lorca is a far more compelling character than the shows intended lead character.

Many people found Data and Worf to be far more compelling characters than Picard and Riker on TNG.

Tons of folks think 7of9 is Voyager's best character, and she didn't even start out on the show

Hell, there's a fair-sized group that consider Garak the best DS9 character, and he's not even a member of the main cast!

The "likability" of your top-billed character has seemingly little impact on the success of the series. Given it's early success, seems it's the same with DSC.

Since I am interested in Burnham and Tyler more than Lorca, I'll disagree on a personal level.

Lorca is interesting, but I would rather watch Burnham and Saru and Tyler, and Tilly.

I agree with this, and it works well for me.

At first I wasn't so interested in him but I love Lorca, he is a badass. I don't know what his future will be but he sure would be an excellent villain for the show in future seasons.

Burnham and Tyler. I'm totally shipping TyBurn. AshBurn? HamAsh? Ham Tyler?

Wait a minute. Ham Tyler was the name of Michael Ironside's badass resistance character from "V". V as in Voq, who is probably Tyler's secret identity. Michael as in Michael Burnham. And Ironsides as in Old Ironsides, the USS Constitution, as in the Constitution Class.

The signs were right in front of us the whole time.

I like most of them tbh! But I'd say Lorca and Tyler...More for the calibre of the actors tbh! The show may have some real casting issues if - as I suspect/dread - these two don't last the season...Burnham is beginning to shape up nicely and I think L'Rell is great...Hopefully more 'crew' interaction will develop some of others characters more fully!

Apples and gaseous anomalies. STD was constructed to be her story.

I choose Lorca. But I don't want Lorca to replace the Main Character place in Discovery. Because that's will kill the appeal that he has already has right now.

I wanted to vote TKuvma but he isn't on the poll so I voted L'Rell.
