Who is your favorite charcter from the new movie? And what do you like about them? My favorite charcters are Kirk,Spock,McCoy and Spock Prime. Its hard to say what I like about each chacter other than mostly thier personalities and thier reactions to certain things. But there also so much more that I can't think of right now. Anyways I have always loved Kirk and Spock, ever since TOS.

Spock was my favorite, which means no change from TOS. The events of the movie will send Spock's character in a different direction from Spock Prime.

McCoy - well cast, I'm interested to see more from that character.

Kirk and Uhura both underwent some pronounced changes from TOS. In Kirk's case, probably to give him a distinct character arc (differentiated from Spock's - TOS implied that young Kirk was serious and grim) and Uhura of course because her passive, lady-like qualities in TOS wouldn't play well today. I'm ok with both changes, since they were necessary.

My hunch is that both Kirk and Spock will have opposite character arcs. Kirk will grow up, become less wild, and start to show more of the leadership qualities, compassion, and strategic savvy that we're familiar with. Spock will struggle more to control his vengeful, dark side than Spock Prime ever did, and his relationship with Uhura will also create a challenge for emotional restraint.

So, we're going to see Kirk grow into the character we're familiar with, and Spock grow away from the familiar character. If that's the plan, I like it: the characters on opposite trajectories. I don't think the other characters need arcs, because there's only so much you can do with three 2-hr movies. Both Uhura and McCoy will probably continue to be the important secondary characters.

Karl Urban's McCoy is just too badass for words. An almost perfect homage to DeForest Kelley!:techman:

Robau was badass, too.

McCoy. Karl Urban did a kicka$$ job. I've been re-watching TOS over the last few weeks, and it's made me realize even more how good he was. But there wasn't enough of him in this film. Thank heaven for sequels!

If we could get a movie with nothing but Karl Urban and Faran Tahir in it?

Badass celluloid perfection.

The more I think about the movie, the more I have to lean towards Quinto's Spock. Even though I'm still getting used to his look, I loved the slightly different style and attitude he brought to the character.

I just found him incredibly interesting to watch.

This is soooo strange.... Before this movie came out, if anyone had asked me who my favourite TOS character is, I would have answered Spock without even thinking twice. I couldn't care less about Kirk, and McCoy was a close second to Spock.

But with the new actors, especially Karl Urban whom I've loved for a few years, it's all changed. Now my two favourite characters are McCoy and Kirk (and don't ask me to choose one because I can't) and Spock would be third... Things might change with the sequel but I doubt it. I guess it's really about how feel towards the actors now, which is a shame but I can't help it. I don't find Quinto sexy at all, especially compared to Leonard Nimoy back in the day.

I can see them joining up for an action film. The Aussie/Kiwi/American teamed with the Middle Eastern guy...together they fight crime and kick ass while making the ladies and all gay men swoon!

LOL!!! I have to admit that the eye candy factor would be seriously high and so would the level of testosterone...

1. McCoy
2. Spock Prime
3. Spock Quinto
4. Robau
5. Kirk
6. Pike
7. George Kirk
8. Nero
9. Sulu
10. Sarek

You're takes on Kirk and Spock are interesting and seemingly dead-on. Wouldn't it be something if Spock was the bad guy in the last pic? Ala Gary Mitchell in "Where No Man...". Where something extraordinary happens to him, but at the same time pushes him over the edge.

Oh yeah... I picked Kirk.

(Quinto) Spock was my favorite, and Spock remained my favorite when I watched TOS. Love the half-breed angst, I suppose. :)
