"Farragut Forward" is back on (and soon the "Starship Farragut" finale "Homecoming")

@ jespah, Maybe the thread title should be a tad modified? (since Homecoming was released like 3 years ago)

I liked a lot of the work when it came to starships, costuming, makeup, etc., but I felt the story was lacking. It felt to me that the focus was more on making everything look good instead of nailing the story.

The villain's motivation was simple and easy to get, but I don't quite get how and why he had so many followers or if there was another goal beyond revenge. Including Marta among the escaped prisoners was a nice touch and the actress resembled Iman too. I was hoping that Mirror Prescott was luring Smithfield to the planet because she had some knowledge akin to the Genesis Device, but to no avail.

Other questions I had were:
-Why didn't the Copernicus captain send the medicine on a shuttle or give Smithfield a shuttle instead of diverting from his mission?
-How did Prescott get all those starships? Were they all of Klingon design?
-Why were all the prisoners on that planet? Had they beamed down from their fleet?
-The crew acted surprised that Carter was going to be an admiral at the end, but why didn't they know that? Even Smithfield looked surprised.

Despite my questions and nitpicks, this was a well-made fan film.

Great work all around. The Farragut people earn all the praise they get. And there isn't a nicer, more honest or drama-free group in fan films. They are supportive and helpful to everyone. John Broughton leads by example.

This was re-uploaded seven years ago, but it was made in 2000:

These folks started online Trek fan films in earnest. They did dozens of this show - seven "seasons" - and two or three follow-up series. There are a few folks in Farragut who hadn't been born at the time this was going on.

What a difference a quarter of a century makes.

This may be a hobby, but it's not a fad.

I've never seen a Farragut production but I watched Farragut Forward today and it was pretty good. I appreciated how they were able to convey the basic character relationships and what was going on without resorting to clunky exposition dumps.

Seeing TOS movie era sets and uniforms made my heart happy and is, IMO, more than enough proof that those sets and uniforms hold up on screens small and big alike. I always thought Paramount missed an opportunity to save a lot of money after Voyager by doing a series set between TUC and TNG.

Same. It was pretty good. The uniforms were on point as well. Felt like I was watching an early S3 episode of TNG. Nicely done!

This looks really great--well done! It's great to see such efforts put into a production like this. But-- asking as a former Trek fan film producer--doesn't this violate the CBS guidelines? Specifically, no repeated characters, and no episodes longer than 15 minutes in two segements? Not asking to be a jerk: asking because I pulled the plug on my series because of just those reasons when the guidelines dropped, so wondering if something changed and I missed it?

Love the costumes and sets. The love and effort is obvious. I had seen the preview a while back, with the Prescott reveal, but I feel like some backstory is missing. How did he survive? How did our heroes end up on the bird of prey? I mean, I was able to connect the dots, but was there another film or vignette I missed?
