The "We have met the enemy and he is us" quote is fairly well known, I believe.

I can't claim to have read Pogo, but I am aware of the quote ( I keep forgetting it is from Pogo, though - must try to remember in future... ).

I'm very familiar with "Pogo," though my steady reading of it doesn't go back much before the 1970s (it was in the paper my entire life, pretty much) and I've read quite a few of the collections.

So of course I recognized the reference - which, as TigerOfDarkness notes, has in any event become a very well-known and oft-cited bit of pop culture and still usually attributed properl to Kelly when it's used.
