Fantastic Four reboot-- Casting, Rumors, Pix, ect;

Not surprised by the bad CG. The final trailer(released 3 weeks before theatrical debut) was put out with shots that weren't fully rendered yet.

People argued that trailers don't have fully rendered shots. But when your FINAL trailer isn't displaying a finished product, there is a definite issue.

Yeah the CGI on The Thing doesn't look much more advanced than the CGI for the rock creature in Galaxy Quest 16 years ago. Which is just really sad.

In fact even the previous FF movies look a whole lot more visually interesting than this one.

Woah, that's Suikoden II as his avatar! He has a Suikoden banner too. That's so cool.

Oh, right, we're talking about a movie here. It's no secret that there were production problems for the film, so maybe his original idea was better and maybe it was worse. We'll never know. I dunno. I just want to play Suikoden II now.

It's not hard to tell this movie was a rush job for FOX to retain the rights and it shows.

More time and more control for the director would have probably yielded an "OKAY" product

Now to await what FOX will do.

What is this assumption that suits have to to be in the wrong?

Surely Suits know this, that they can smell this unflushable contempt and must autocorrect to manufacture a clear air where civil business can take place?

It's the same with most racisms.

You hear how they hate you prejudicially for doing hypothetically what, and then you play with those expectations to your own benefit and reward.

Of course that's sometimes a definition of bending over backwards, and maybe we're not worth bending over backwards for?

It's possible that Suits hate us for underestimating their ability to make good movies, so they punish us by making bad movies against the grain of their own perfect instincts.

It's possible?

Wow, I don't think I've entirely skipped, as in not even bothered to rent, a Marvel-branded movie since Ghost Rider 2 four years ago, but it seems that clock just got reset!

Now, where's our damn Tintin sequel?!

They've got 120 mill on the line. They don't give a shit about "punishing" fans. It's about money, and they want to make as much as possible. It's a business, and they want to make the best movie they can. Not because they care about the fans. They care about a nice net margin. They will do everything in their power to ensure that.

The idea that hollywood intentionally puts out bad movies is absurd. I have no idea how a person can legitimately believe that this is a possibility. I'm not singling you out. I've just seen this commentary before and it is a fantasy.

It doesn't work like that.

Stock holders in the company do not know where their money is going or what it is being used in/on. They only care about stock price day to day and dividends at the years end.

If the failure of the Fantastic Four was a trick to make more money, we've all seen The Producers, and it makes that money, then they should be good.

FOX wants to sell the rights, that's where they see the big money is someday.

They can't sell the rights if they have a profitable on going concern.

So they just have to make shitty movies that can be swept under the rug after making one more dollar than they put into it.

Q. How much did Fox pay for the Rights form Marvel 20 something years ago?

Q. How much do they want to sell them for tomorrow?

What career ?

Between 'antics' during the FF shoot, it's reviews and being fired by Disney, I doubt anyone will touch him now.

I'm assuming his thinking is that he'll shift all the blame for the film's failure onto the Studio and away from himself, even though by most accounts the first 2/3s of it is his film.

And having a quick look around the net this morning shows that's it's working to an extent.

Coming out with talk like that is just going to hurt the film more. A few months down the line or a year later and he'd be in a better light.

Right.

I can't be bothered waiting anymore.

Rifftrax riffed rise of the Silver Surfer.

That'll do.

(In retrospect, Jessica Alba might have been the biggest celebrity guest star on Love Boat the Next Wave.)
