I don't know, reading some of the reports it looks as if others involved in the production stepped in to 'pull the movie together' when Trank wasn't performing.
It'll depend how well they did...
Depending on how who the "insider" is, this could easily be a conflict between the vision of the producers and the director rather than under-performance by the director.
There are complaints from fans about movies when the production studios seem to take over (Spider-Man) and now there are complaints when the director doesn't conform to studio decisions. People are never happy.
The things I've read were talking about Trank being withdrawn, uncommunicative, uninvolved and bizarrely, causing a large amount of property damge...
In the article that was linked, there is very little about who is giving the information. The property damage was caused by his dogs because he left them inside a strange house by themselves apparently.
I just think that this article really doesn't say very much.

It can also mean that he didn't want to compromise with studio demands for the project. It will be interesting to hear the actors take on this, but we will need to wait a while for that.

I'm saying that the story itself is so vague and without proper sources or full research. It seems like gossip more than actual reporting. It is one of those articles that people who have preconceived notions about the film are going to latch onto to provide further "evidence" for their unsubstantiated opinions.
That house must have been filled with some pretty expensive stuff for a couple of small dogs to do $100,000 worth of damage. In ordinary people terms, that's like they tore down the whole damn house.

One report I saw on it compared him to a college basketball player who moves to the A-list teams and has the talent but not the temperament or character to adjust to the jump.
