These are matters that only Alicia Masters should think about....
I don't want a dark and serious Fantastic Four. A Fantastic Four movie should be filled with humor and fun. This teaser does not really fill me with a lot of hope.
I think that dark and serious superhero films have become rather tiresome. That's why GotG was such a refreshing change of pace.
Agreed. That teaser really piqued this non-fan's interest.Looks good so far.
I really like the more realistic tone of ASM1, and I'm far from the only one. Heck, one of my main frustrations with ASM2 is that it wasn't enough like ASM1.So they're actually trying to Nolanize... the Fantastic Four? Really?
The movie does look like it's competently made, but I can't help but get an Amazing Spider-Man vibe from this. Like they've made it much more gritty and "real" than anyone really cares it to be, and ultimately the entire thing ends up just being completely forgettable in the end.
Unless they go the way of Mr Manhattan, the THING has lost his manhood
Ehhh.... Maybe. But one could argue he's always lost it because I doubt a rock penis is going to of much use for doing anything, even peeing. Or thing has a soft, regular, penis behind two plates of his shell that he can will to open, exposing himself.
....if he wanted to make his own grim and grey SF film that's what he should have done.
A Fantastic Four film should exist in the same sphere as GOTG; big, loud, colourful and fun. None of which is evidenced here.

I got a Warren Ellis vibe from the teaser.
I'm fine with that. I liked Ellis' take on the Fantastic Four in Planetary, though I don't imagine that there's anything in common between the film and Planetary.![]()

But did you like Ellis' take on the Fantastic Four in Ultimate Fantastic Four?![]()

Speaking for myself, I agree with all of the above. I really didn't see much in the trailer that was recognizable as Fantastic Four anyway, so my interest level remains unchanged."People want fun and escapism at the moment," he said. "Look at the success of Guardians of the Galaxy. I think Nolan kick-started a very dark, bleak style of superhero escapism, and I think people have had enough of it."
This is just a teaser trailer. Difficult to judge an entire film off of a fifty or so rearranged clips shown out of sequence and edited to whet our appetites.
It'd be like if you did a Blade film but made the approach a straight up comedy template.

I just imagined Chris Tucker playing Blade.
Then Vampire in Brooklyn is as close as they've done and that wasn't exactly a stellar film. It'd be like if you did a Blade film but made the approach a straight up comedy template.
