Ugh, I'm really annoyed that they're trying to blame this on bad reviews and some twitter comments, instead of on the fact they just made a reaaaally horrible movie.
And I think the only way they could show up in an X-Men film is if they secretly snuck them into it and then left them out of all the trailers and advertising. Because the second people saw them in a trailer it would likely kill their interest completely.
I think they're just trying to put a dignified spin on it at this point...I wouldn't read much more into it than that.
At this point there's such a stink on the FF franchise I'm not sure they'd dare risk tainting an X-men film with these characters. I suspect this movie is going to replace "Batman and Robin," "Waterworld" and "Heavens Gate" as H'Wood shorthand for "huge bomb"
I've never seen a movie graded like this here lol, even among you cynical lot... 15 Fs to 1 A?

That would be a real 'win win', at least to me. Deadpool, Gambit and co.fit well with the X-Men, the FF, Galactus etc. better with the MCU.
And I'd love an X-Men TV show...
Honestly, what would Marvel even do with the rights? The franchise has been so severly tainted that it may not be recoverable. Having access to FF villains would be good for future GotG installments, but otherwise? Of course, we wouldn't see an MCU FF until well into Phase 4...

I could see the FF being introduced as a major subplot in something like GotG III (maybe a Skrull or Galactus thing), possibly Hulk / FF movie (She Hulk origin ?) or maybe a TV show.
Bumping FF2 for Deadpool 2 seems a smart move.
As long as Marvel makes a movie that actually looks really cool and fun, I don't think they'll have a problem drawing people in. And it obviously shouldn't be too hard to make it look different and distinct from this movie, with it's boring costumes and dark and dreary color scheme.
Not to mention the fact that most people will have wisely avoided seeing this crappy reboot in the first place, so it should be a lot easier for everyone to just pretend it never happened and move on. And I also think audiences kind of understand that the failure here has MUCH more to do with the directing and storytelling than with the characters themselves.

I think it would turn toward television as a fresh start. CW can't be putting all that much into Flash, and it looks great (I.e. Firestorm). Thing could be handled with practical effects like they did with Chiklis. Stretching and invisible effects probably the easier of the four.
Fantastic Four is better suited to an episodic format anyway, and many of their adventures are not as effects intensive as one might think - Microverse, Negative Zone, Skrulls / Super Skrull, Time Travel (Rama Tut / Kang), Puppet Master, Diablo, Frightful Four, Mad Thinker and his Awesome Android, Molecule Man, Doom. Bigger effects like Galactus could even be shared with the movie work like they were talking about with the ABC Hulk series using the computer model work from Avengers.
Hey, if nothing else, they made everyone forget about the casting.

I would assume Marvel wouldn't need to make a film at anytime in the near future to keep the rights once they get them back. That would give them the luxury of time for the stink to go away.
If it was me Id seriously look at doing an animated film. While a Brad Bird Pixar version is probably a pipe dream, Disney could look at a "Big Hero Six" style feature. Maybe even one from the "Franklin Richards, son of a genuis" perspective.
Or let Peyton Reed do that version he wanted to do set in the 60s. At some point Marvels going to need a third wave. Maybe it could be a retro version of the MU: the FF, the Hank and Jan version of Ant-man, young Nick Fury, etc.
Either way, getting them back gives Marvel options (long term or otherwise) they don't have now.

Saw it yesterday. I agree with the critic who thought the setup was not too bad but there was no payoff. The movie actually slows down after they get their powers and that shouldn't have happened.
It wasn't terrible, just really dull and unexciting. Why they keep shoe horning Doom;s origin into the FF's is beyond me. This movie had no heart, no humor, no fun. The Tim Story movies were pretty flawed but both at least "got" the essence of what the FF were about, Trank's movie missed that completely.The "Chris Nolan" effect claims another victim.
Sometimes the fans DO know better and this was one of those times. The announcement that they were casting young actors to play Reed, Sue, and Ben, was only the beginning of what eventually killed this movie.

If Batman and Robin didn't kill the Batman franchise, this movie won't kill the FF. I just hope TPTB realize that it isn't the characters, it is the way they've been presented. Besides, if all they really want to do is revive the franchise, all they have to do is give the next movie to a director that most people respect and voila, just like Batman Begins and Man of Steel, people will make up their minds to see the movie and love it whether it's any good or not.

I was all ready to enjoy this movie in a "so bad it's good way". I like bad movies. Transformers 2 was great fun.
But this movie commits the cardinal sin of being boring. I was checking my clock throughout the movie. Nothing exciting happens until 1 hour 20 minutes into the damn movie. It's just so funereal in its pacing and tone. The only scene I felt the slightest bit of fun to was the very final scene where they're picking a name. A couple of them, god forbid, actually cracked a smile.
Our lead character is just so intensely boring. He's relentlessly dour and serious and just has no personality whatsoever. I also got zero life from Kate Mara either (but I generally find her to be that way).
I also can't believe that Reed ran away for an entire year from the rest of them. Or that Doom spends an entire year living alone in the Negative Zone but nobody even mentions hey living by yourself a year on an alien planet that must really mess up your head or something like that.
And if Doom can make someone's head explode just by looking at them, why didn't he do that to the FF at any point in the entire ending? They could at least have done a bit where he tries to explode Johnny/Ben and it doesn't work because they have cosmic radiation or something.
Even the final Green Screen Challenge at the end of the movie is such a completely un-involving, by the numbers action sequence.
I wanted to enjoy this movie on some level but man it was just a chore to watch.
Meanwhile I'm watching the 2005 movie right now. Yeah it's cheesy and lame but at least it's enjoyable to watch. And I find nothing wrong with the Thing makeup. And the Human Torch CGI actually looks BETTER than the 2015 version
