Fan Productions: The Next Generation?

Are there any fan production that focus on the 24th Century shows (or the 22nd one for that matter)? Seems that TOS is the only focus. Are the fans of those shows not into that sort of thing?

The TNG-era productions tend to be done in european countries, like Dark Armada. And that eurocentrism (sometimes with rather thick accents) might make it harder to generate an audience in the US.

They also tend to rely more on green-screen work than physical sets, and in many of the older productions it is very noticeable, and not in a good way. It may also be a matter of resources, TOS fandom likely skews somewhat older in the US, and these fans may have more money to put toward their productions.

I do expect more TNG-era shows in future, but so far the TOS-era ones seem to be putting out a higher average quality product.

Hidden Frontier was a MAJOR set of fan series out of LA, but the production standards were much lower than many current TOS productions. They still released an audio episode once in a while. http://www.hiddenfrontier.com/ . They produced a 50 episode series, "Hidden Frontier" as well as several other series. This is an overview write-up about this group: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/100_27.html . If you look at Star Trek Review's Table of Contents, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/2.html, TNG/VOY/DS9 era films are called, "Silver Age" . They start at Blog 80 (which is a Dutch group) and continue through Blog 133. This listing does not include short films set in this era. I would also want to highlight Star Trek Osiris: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/82.html . My favorite fan series is actually Star Trek: Intrepid, which is from this era, see http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/109.html . The German filmm, Digital Ghost is particularly good and available with English subtitles. Another excellent film (but which also requires subtitles) is the Czech, Metrensky Incident, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/85.html . The animated series, Star Trek Time Warp, has mostly one person doing all the voices, but is well animated in 3D and well written. http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/94.html . Germany also offers Star Trek: The Next Animation http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/94.html . That should keep you entertained for a day or two!

Everybody always forgets Encarta ;)

Sorry... I just ran my eye down my Table of Contents and grabbed a few. Of course, your last film is a masterwork of Silver Age fan films. Here are links to all of your films, although the one most beloved is the final one: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/86.html

While I'm correcting myself, the Table of Contents is organized by time period. You will also find several films set at the time of Enterprise, including the stop-action German animation (available with an English language soundtrack) Star Trek: Enterprise, the New Generation, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/12.html .
