(and she inexplicably got a uniform that was different than every other BM member, which always bothered me)
It was a ratings thing. They redesigned Kira's costume to be tighter & sexier to get more young men watching the show. I think they added high heels to it, too.
...but Ro would not have functioned as well unless they had her quit Starfleet and join the BM.
That is one unfortunate abbreviation there.

Oh, they did. Massive high heels. This also allowed Visitor to stand eye to eye with the rest of the regular cast, almost all of whom stood at least 5-11. It was a tall group.

So I know it's na-NA' her given name named after a literary character iirc. But I also pronounce it visiTOR. Is that right, or some weird me-ism. Never knew it was a stage name till this moment.

I always pronounced it NANna, like banana. I'm still gonna.

So far, over the years since we got TOS-R, I have done :

The Trouble with Time - 3 parter of Naked Time, Tomorrow is Yesterday and Assignment :Earth

Let The World Slip - extended episode combining For The World and Paradise Syndrome, with both asteroids now the same one

Eden Incident - extended episode combining Way to Eden and Requiem for Methuselah. Eden Planet is Flint's planet, minus the acid.

Where No Man Has Gone Re - cut using Court Martial, Menagerie and other episodes with Kirk now on trial for Mitchell's murder

Invitation to a Shoot-Out - Twilight Zone version of Spectre of the Gun

I watched the Trilogy and Invitation to a Shoot Out. For some reason the link for Let the World Slip was a different format and tried to make me register a Mega account, and I haven't done that yet. I am very interested in checking ALL of these out. So far so good, though. All 3 episodes slide into each other really well. The only thing that fails narratively, slightly is the quick recovery and no visual "cure" scenes bridging the craziness from the end of Naked Time, with the beginning of Tomorrow is Yesterday, but I doubt there was any way of conveying that. The cuts are all very smooth and act as actual bridging cliffhangers. The segueway into Assignment: Earth is absolutely perfect. Sometimes you can tell that the way they filmed / material of the uniforms / brightness and colors changes slightly between episodes, but its the nature of the beast. I wasn't sure if the voices were at the right pitch during part of the first episode. I was surprised not to see any of the chonometers going backwards at the end of Part 1.

The Twilight Zone episode was awesome. Perfect voice-overs, proper mood.... the lack of introduction of the characters is very TZ, putting us right in the middle of the story. The 60s dialogue gives it an air of legitimacy, as even Trek itself was designed to be watched by new viewers - Spock calling Scotty "engineer", the doctor being "Bones," the roles being all generic enough to need little explanation - it totally works as a TZ style work, the generic space crew that needs no introduction. The atmosphere is just perfect.

I have a TZ episode fan-cut that someone made out of Planet of the Apes, trimming it down and putting it in black and white. Its another great episode, so now I have a double-feature.... :D

I'm duboius about talkign about fan edits in certain places because peopel are concerned about coppyright - I do it for my own entertainment I don't mean infringement; but I've done some:

To The Stars – Using the 09 film and Into Darkness, this attempts to create a canonical origin story for Kirk and Spock. Uses Gabe Koerner’s better Enterprise design

Flight of the Franklin – yes the Enterprise is destroyed but this is the most Star Trek of all three movies, so naturally I turned it into an episode

Star Trek: Phase III – 16 episodes showing the complete adventures of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Uhura and Chekov post-TMP – using footage from movies 1-7, 11-12, TNG, Voyager, Starfleet Academy videogame, Of Gods and Men, New Voyages and Renegades (including Requiem 26B style). Literally the whole story. Every scrap. I’ve edited Excelsior footage from Voyager’s Flashback into Undiscovered Country to expand that adventure.

Of Gods and Men – extended movie edition with the Generations prologue and Sulu on the Excelsior from ‘World Enough and Time’ to show more of the crew post-ST6

Days of Future Past – I’ve blogged about it in the past, but this is the TNG episode Yesterday’s Enterprise using Undiscovered Country/Generations footage to give Kirk a better sendoff. The closest I’ll get to my ideal Star Trek movie MORE: https://dannylavery9.wordpress.com/2017/10/24/star-trek-days-of-future-past-fan-editors-notes/

Legacies – the Bring Back Kirk trailer coupled with Trek 09 and Renegades to create a new TOS finale, set post-Nemesis for the whole crew except Sulu.

Emissary – the DS9 pilot mixed with The Chase and Birthright I to create a full-blown TNG/DS9 crossover - Emissary plays then when the Enterprise goes off we cut to Teh chase footage to show the Enteprirse on another mission nearby. The end shows Data and Bashir's story and Worf on DS9 from Birthright, he doesn't go to find his father. Ends with Sisko and Picard talking. Inspired by the DC/Malibu crossover

The Dominion War – showing the Enterprise-E during the war fighting Jem’Hadar and rescuing Sisko and the Defiant crew

Voyager: The Movie – using footage of the Voyager characters post-Endgame to show their future lives

Inferno – combining the Borg War fan film starring Patrick Stewart with all Good Things and others to give TNG a better send off. Little did I know of course Picard was plotting a comeback! Might remake when we have flashbacks and the Short Trek, make a canon version bridging Nemesis and Picard

Also from Enterprise, DS9 and Voyager I’ve turned several multi part arcs into movies.

My friend has also combined Pegasus and These Are The Voyages footage to make it one story: https://ifdb.fanedit.org/star-trek-the-next-generation-the-pegasus/

Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme........

jk, but seriously, I am very interesting in learning more about ... just about all of these. Beyond Intriguing.....

People rotate off ships all the time. The idea that this one crew would stay together like some permanent unit never made any sense to me. <shrug>

Agreed. The TOS movies tried to introduce a "new generation" but always reset to the Magnificent Seven. I would've preferred that after TMP, only Kirk, Spock, McCoy and maybe Scotty continued into the other movies whilst introducing new crew, like Saavik to take over for the rest. Then have the new crew take completely over in one of the movies.

There was some intent to do just that early on. The problem arose that the casual fans wanted their crew (the Seven) to keep appearing, over and over again. Much of the in-universe BTS stuff with Starfleet's keeping them together unrealistically was done to achieve this. At the same time, once Sulu was effectively written out by putting him on his own ship, his ship gets involved in the action anyway, just so he can appear.

Not sure if this is allowed, but I have several fan edits I have made and am working on, if anyone is interested in watching? I am a member over at fanedit.org

(I own the original DVDs, and this is non-profit obviously.)

Some ideas:
Dulmur and Lucsly in a MST 3000 type deal going over Immunity Syndrome, Operation Annihilate and how it ties to fluidic space and the spore drive, with comments.

Kolchak The Ripper with Wolf in the Fold Demon & Mummy style

Only the opening of "The Alternative Factor" with subspace shaking. If Throne had survived, I might have had him do voice-over work--with Kirk opening up a file (new footage)

Enter the Doomsday Machine. Footage explains it is in Romulan space--with reports of a new weapon--so you splice the better part of Doomsday with Balance of Terror. Voiceover from TNG footage about Romulan space being attacked--but it is Doomsday--not Borg.

When Kirk talks about it being a weapon in an ancient war--run the (flashback)scene of the Star Killer base (Force Awakens) beam in reverse, showing the Hitler types killed by the Doomsday beam from above

I would certainly not have wanted the supporting cast to disappear but I would have been happy if they had featured in some other capacity. Chekov being first officer and Sulu having his own ship worked well. Uhura's role in STIII was one of her most memorable. Other characters could have been brought back for stunt cameos, although I wish Chapel had been given something worthwhile to do in STIV and STVI. She had a scene with Sarek that was cut, it would have been shockingly awesome if she'd been revealed to be Spock's wife.

I do understand that the actors were reluctant to accept cameos in some instances, and that STIII and STIV work better with the old regulars in the thick of it, but some growth would have been cool.

Just think -- We could be coming up on the 40th year of Takei, Koenig, and Nichols complaining at cons about how they were written out of the movies! ;)

I don't think that Sulu captaining the Excelsior was "writing him out." It was more like, "Well, it's the last movie with this cast anyway... Why not?"

God, I'd have hated that. Spock deserves better than being stuck with a wimpy wife like Chapel.

Yeah if she had no character development at all. Who knows how her hosting his consciousness affected them both or what might have developed over that second 5 year mission. TMP Chapel, all sciency, crisp and business like is my favourite version. I remember Hill Street Blues threw a few curveballs in there with characters you wouldn't expect having long term off camera relationships.

I did say "Effectively". It wasn't the intent to write him out, but with him not on the Enterprise, they needed a plot device so they could include him. That was my point.

Warlord, I watched the last episode that I have. Very interesting concept. I loved how you spliced in the "cure" coming from the Preservers, after moving the Preservers infodump to the bridge. The ending from yet a third episode was absolute *genius* and fits this scenario better then its source material. I really enjoyed how the two storylines parelleled (McCoy and Kirk both getting ill fated, out of character romances with tragic endings) and I just wish there had been form footage from the first episode that could have cut back to show what McCoy was doing while Kirk was missing. The concept is *excellent.* There was some jumpiness and sound/music cues that felt off right around the transitions, but I was watching it on a kind of crappy computer so it very well may have been on my end. The story actually works really well with the "asteroid" bridging things together. I haven't seen "World is Hollow" in so long that it felt new, and I had no idea how it was all going to work together until it was unfolding. Kudos.

And.

More? :D

Which is my problem is Chapel as a character in a nutshell. She never developed beyond "Has an unrequited crush on Spock." It was that one note, played over and over, like a kid plunking away on a toy piano.
Which is weird since it only comes up three times; four if you include her goofy smile after she shares his consciousness.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm working on finishing my Eden/Requiem edit, which should be ready pretty soon.

I'll probably go back and re-tackle my Ultimate/Omega edit after that, as it needs re-doing from scratch.

I'll keep you posted! :)
