Not sure where to put it since it isn't quite "Fan Art" or a "Fan Production" in a traditional sense.

I think some of you will enjoy NJM Productions work.

The shots look great and much better than what was done on the official remastered.. something like this is what I was talking about with the use of AI in my AI thread that didn't go over so well... 😂. Though I would like to see if Ai can enhance the original shots and not a complete recreation. But these work well. ..

Very nice. Someone who knows a lot more about lighting (something something inverse square) can explain why it's going to be tough making things like windows and nacelle caps look right at 1/4 the size.

it's well done but it's so close to the original shots that I don't see the point.

For the producer? That IS the point. For the consumer? As gorgeous as the original FX are the actual film is unfortunately rather ragged.

Too dark and shadowy for my tastes. The harsh lighting does not look like TOS and I agree, the nacelle effect has never been convincingly replicated; the original effect looks awesome still. While some of the TOS effects are dated, most still hold up.

I find the trend interesting, though. For a long time, people would post videos on YouTube where they would recreate effects in CGI. Today, though, the trend seems to be going back the other way, where amateurs are attempting to redo effects using physical miniatures and motion control rigs. I rather like that.

It would be more of a noticeable difference for shots that came out looking like this in the original due to the whole process of layering opticals or whatever:

A remaster is supposed to give a clean looking version of the original shots, not replace all the visuals wholesale with whiz-bang video game stuff that looks nothing like the original, as the official "remaster" project did.

They'll never spend the money so this is just a fan project.
I've seen the original shots (in rough shape) for 60 years and I enjoy the new FX as well. Both or either will suffice from now on. They look to not be doing a 4K release anyway.
But that guy did fantastic work.

One of the things I've learned here over the years of watching updates to the original effects? Those spinning nacelle caps are incredibly hard to replicate.
Most folks don't put the right lights inside to back the spinning caps. @Chris PikE is meticulous in his builds. He gets the caps spot on. Maybe he'll spot this and chime in. Post some pics and videos.

I am hoping that there will be some leap in smart screen tech to where model nacelle caps can have patterns running on a loop.
