Famous Crab Nebula Shoots Off Mysterious Flares

^^^^^ Treating things with ultra-seriousness can be worse than pure humour. I'm most comfortable inbetween, mixing up humour and seriousness.

In this thread I think the need for simple practical answers wasn't felt to be urgent... we knew we'd get to stating them eventually.

Exactly. There's no real urgency needed. That doesn't mean waste a whole thread, which we didn't, it just means that answers will come in time and to relax and enjoy the conversation.

It doesn't help that the real answers are kinda boring.

Yeah, the real explanation is uneventful. If the Sun were flaring up, you'd get more activity from posters, but this is in the Crab nebula, thousands of light years away. The news is already thousands of years old before it even gets here.

I should say...How does this effect us here on Earth? What is the significance of these flares?
Nothing to worry about there. The Crab Nebula is way too far away for any radiation bursts to effect us at all.

Shouldn't that be "Federation H?"

Would that be in the Hemorrhoid quadrant?

Not so much the distance I hear, but rather the painful journey getting there.

...

On a side side, it should be kinda obvious, but it's likely Jetfire has issues in his life and this thread has little to do with his behavior.

Damn... I can't think of a star that hasn't been mentioned aside from the Centauri ones. Vega....
