Fallout: The Television Series

Bit more plot movement today. The stuff with the legion felt a little too campy honestly
I know Vegas is a fan favourite but for me it was kinda ruined be how silly a premise there is behind the Legion. They are just far too camp evil for the game to really have a tough choice as to who the good and bad guys are.

That was the problem with the NV game too, they had to keep playing up the NCR's problems and hardly mention the Legions' to make them sound worthwhile

Something came out recently where one of the game’s writers admitted they may have written’s Caesar’s arguments for authoritarianism too appealing lol

according to the end credits that was Jesse Burch voicing Victor, sounded so much like William Sadler though. Fooled me

Jesse also voiced a ton of characters in New Vegas.

For anyone who hasn’t played the games, the BoS having clerics is something totally made up by the show.

I was surprised that was Macaulay Culkin, but that whole plot wasn't great. It really came down to the pronunciation of "Ceaser". Also, the lack of what was going on with Norman and Hank created a hole in this episode. I did like the stuff with Maximus and Xander and leading it back to Thaddeus.

That’s kinda something in the game. Different NPCs pronounce it differently, even with in the Legion itself. I can’t remember if the different pronunciation ever actually pointed out in dialogue.
It is by Easy Pete. You'll hear both the hard C and soft C sound by various NPCs.

The Legion's argument was always one of discipline and security. One trader in the Fort mentions that trading in the Legion territory is easier. No guards needed because the territory is secure.

The Legion is a fun blend of Enclave and Slavers from Fallout 3. The Enclave is pure evil, insisting it's way is right while running roughshod over any impurities of the Wasteland. Legion has a similar attitude, except loyalty to a figurehead rather than a pre war government.

You including the slavery, rape and Luddite thinking there too?
Their goal is peace through discipline, at least through the doctrinal line. Even the Brotherhood of Steel founder noted the need for traditions and mythology in the new world to make sure people have something to believe in.

Unfortunately, it comes with those things as well, because the post apocalypse leads itself to brutality and superstition. Caesar just used it to his advantage to further his power.

Which doesn't change that it's rather bizarre that hardly anyone in the game brings these up as "failings" and just say stuff like "Oh, their lands are so safe!"

Anyways, I watched the episode today. I liked it but I'm wondering if this is all we'll see of the Legion in the show and what Xander was talking about with the Commonwealth being under attack. Either they've made up a new enemy out there, or the Institute or the Children of Atom are doing some damage to the BoS.

I only found out about this today, but Amazon actually does have a "Next on" trailer for their episodes. Based on that, the Legion does return next week.

Paramount should take notes, and bring that feature with thier shows, like Star Trek. I miss the "Next On" trailers.

This episode was pretty good. The Legion is not exactly coming across as the brightest group right now.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Cooper realizes that the random guy in the bathroom was actually House. I had expected him to either outright say or at least give some kind of hint that he knew who he was, but I guess he didn't. I'm assuming everybody must only know the body double House used last season and in the premiere.
I hadn't expected to see Xander again, the whole thing with him using child labor was kind of messed up, but definitely fits in with the Fallout world.
Well, Kumail Nanjiani didn't last anywhere near as long as I expected him to.

What makes it bizarre? People value security.

They value Security so much they tolerate massive misogyny, slavery, limited access to technology and despotism?

It's pretty telling that hardly anyone in the game spoke about the virtues of the NCR's non slavery...because the writers knew that if they did bring up the NCR's good points it would make it too hard to see the Legion as anything but evil.

I wonder if the Ghoul is gonna end up being the Courier from New Vegas. He seem awfully well known and respected by the various Mojave factions.

Yes. They practice dehumanism by referring to people in different classes. Legionaries call all others "profligates" and other them. They are superior in their own estimation because of their strength.
