Fallout: The Television Series

Can you provide an example? The only 50's sci-fi I can think of is The War of the Worlds and When Worlds Collide.
The art for Heinlein's Starship Troopers books.

As one example.

Here's a craft from the same era to give the sense of the aesthetic inspiration

Another example of 50s era imaging future soldiers.

Tech was to be bulkier, like Forbidden Planet. Not a lot of sleekness but evoking technology as a bit cumbersome.

Read and watch more SF, including pre-1980s works.

It knows what it is. It plays with several SF tropes and does a good job of it.
Yes, yes it does. It leans in to the hero as the one person who types as "normal" and has to navigate a strange world. It shows civilization crumbling then attempting to rebuild with all the conflicts that brings.

It has a dark humor to it that won't land for everyone. But, Fallout knows exactly what it is and steers in to it. It plays at both the 50s era futurism and 80s level violence.

I see an ad, I look up the trailer, and if it looks good, I check it out. Since when has TV become homework?
If you're that picky about what you're wanting to watch, you might want to look into a show a bit more before you start it. I usually watch at least a few trailer and behind the scenes videos, and read up on a show on Wikipedia before I start it, and possibly read some articles on sites like Entertainment Weekly or IGN if I'm not sure about it.
If you had looked a bit deeper into Fallout you would have seen a lot sooner what it was. Honestly, watching one trailer can be a little deceptive since they usually do several trailers that focus on different aspects of a show, and behind the scenes videos will often times give you a better idea of what the show is like.
I don't remember exactly what I watched for Fallout, but I went into it knowing exactly what to expect, and I've never played any of the games.

Complaint: expression of grief, pain, or dissatisfaction.
Criticism: the art of evaluating or analyzing works of art or literature.
These are not the same thing.

Me criticizing the show is on topic. You complaining about me doing so, not so much.

No one has a problem with you offering your critiques of the show. No one has a problem with you not liking the show. You like what you like, and if you don't like Fallout, that's perfectly fine. Not every show is for everyone, and Fallout does not seem to be for you. And that's OK.

I am trying to be gentle here... the so-called "complaints" are not around you criticizing the show. The concern is just that you're basically repeating the same criticisms over and over again. People have explained to you why the show is the way it is. The first season of the show is not going to change at this point. You're not going to be convinced to suddenly like it (which, again, is fine). We all understand why you don't like it, even if we don't agree with you. It's not like further repetition is going to make us understand your viewpoint any more clearly than we already do. So what are we doing here? The thread just seems to be going in circles.

For All Mankind, what is that?

For All Mankind is a great show, at least based on the seasons I have watched so far. (I am not fully caught up yet.) I've even heard it hailed as one of the best SF shows currently airing, from certain quarters. I would normally recommend you check it out... but you have made it clear in this thread that you detest alternate history in television shows, so that unfortunately means you won't like it.

It is a lot more serious than Fallout if that makes a difference, and it's from Ronald D. Moore who worked on Star Trek: TNG, DS9, and created the Battlestar Galactica reboot, and Outlander. Not sure if any of that, or the trailer I posted earlier has caught your interest, but it is a great show.

But you're mad she didn't react the way you thought she should, so you clearly expected her to be a normal person. To put it bluntly, the people in the Vaults are a bunch of weirdos who don't act like normal people because they've been totally controlled by the people running them for multiple generations at this point. I haven't watched it since it first came out, but I don't think we see a lot of normal emotions or behavior from Lucy or the other people Vault, at least in the first few episodes.
And Lucy's whole arc is moving away from being Vault Dweller to being someone who can survive on the surface.
Which is pretty much the player character arc in most of the games (except New Vegas).

Funny thing is, the Max Max outfit is the first costume change you get in the original game. The blue vault suit is supposed to seem ridiculous out in the wasteland as it offers little protection and makes it obvious you're some sheltered fool with a bag of supplies to steal. Looks iconic though.

The dog is also in the games, though it's a different dog each time really. He's inspired by the dog in Mad Max.
And by Blood, the dog in Harlan Ellison's story "Blood is a Rover", and it's film adaptation "A Boy and His Dog", a foundation film of the post-apocalyptic genre.

The end of your post answers your question that you opened with. The lead girl, is she the main character? Completely unphased by anything. She leaves the vault and enters a world she knows nothing about, how can she expect to survive or have any idea where she is going? The black guy and the Iron Man suits, I found all of that to be obnoxious. The red vampire, is he going to be the villain? Is he a zombie? To me, it's just a show about a kidnapped father and a daughter out to save him, but I find myself not really caring about either character.

Post-apocalyptic films and shows, I prefer stuff like...

The Book of Eli / I Am Legend / Jericho (2 seasons) / Mad Max (5 films) / Planet of the Apes (10 films)
The Road / Sweet Home (3 seasons) / Terminator: Salvation (4th film) / World War Z

There are probably others, but you get the idea. Fallout was just too video gamey for my tastes.
Well it sounds like you are also well able to answer your own questions.

Season 2 Filming leaks

Looks like they're recreating Novac from Fallout New Vegas

Another filming location
A drive in theatre. Sign says 'Starlight Drive-in' which was a Drive-In that only appeared in Fallout 4, guess the show is making it a country wide franchise.

I watched the first episode of Fallout tonight. I'm mainly doing it because of Ella Purnell (recently saw Arcane and of course Star Trek Prodigy) but the first episode was engaging. I know nothing of the games and I'm not a gamer, but it was incredibly violent. Looking forward to diving deeper into this world.

It is a very violent world. Looking forward to reading your reactions.

I'm 3 episodes in and other than some of the over the top violence (It looks a bit cartoony at times), I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Really like the Ghoul, even though I'm not liking what he's doing to Lucy at the moment (Torture, using her as bait) but his backstory made me understand why he's doing it. I wish Emerson had been in the series longer than a single episode, and looking forward to finding out what is that chip. The people of Vault 33 are so very naive, like Children. That commentary on wealth and privilage verse what is going on on the surface is pretty good at the moment.
