Been a while, but I think it takes place well after the actual apocalypse. Several generations have been born and died. Though there are "outs" for a few characters.

You read my comment too literally. When I said, "After two episodes, I realized this isn't really post-apocalyptic, this is purely a "for the video gamers" series," this was meant to communicate that the emphasis of the show is "video game adaptation" more than anything else.
This still fits the definition of post-apocalypse.
You quoted me saying, "As time goes on and you begin to heal, yes. In the immediate aftermath? Absolutely not." - This is in reference to the attack on the bunker.

I don't play video games. I don't mind watching something based on a video game, but if they can't tone down the "video gamey" aspects, I bounce out.
Loved the three "Tomb Raider" films, so it's not like I don't like game-to-film/series adaptations. 
Here's the thing: I don't think the show is too video gamey. I think the tone of the franchise is not suited to everyone's expectations of post apocalyptic.I don't play video games. Lucy is not a video game character. She only gets marginally better and isn't very capable and too naive. Maximus is a sheltered kid of a different kind and the world is harder than they realize.
The Ghoul is a bounty hunter who has let the horrors of the post apocalypse lead to indifference towards suffering.
It's a weird mish mash of tone and struggle and character and the story will not go as you think.

Fair enough, and I just want to say, I do not believe Fallout to be a bad show. I'm not knocking it. It just wasn't what I expected it to be.

I don't watch post apocalypse for realistic any more. I'm far more selective of my media, and realism is something that has moved a little bit down my list as I get older.
For me, realism is hit and miss. It depends on the story being told. When it comes to post-apocalyptic, I want it to be dark, gritty, emotionally devastating, trauma is part of daily life. Terminator got this right.
