Falling Skies - Season 2- discussion/Spoilers

Acouple episodes back, we learned the Fish Heads run around the galaxy "fixing" Civilizations that have gone astray.
if we can take an obvious self justification like that at face value, that is.
If all they want to do is fix humanity and cull the herd, shouldn't they be gone by now? How much more culling can they do? And, as for refining, the only thing I see them doing is harnessing children. What kind of refining is that?

Did you see how the first two skitters reacted when we saw the fish heads? Just as Red Eye is Teal'c the fish heads are goa'uld, the ones who actually came to believe their god status. They want more Karens and Rickys to worship them. Meanwhile human society is following the NuBSG template in this mashed up show.

Maybe they want the Earth to use a staging ground or base for a war with another alien species.

^^^ Possible - using augmented/harnessed earth children as the vanguard for a new thrall army, once fully grown, of course. We may see other aspects of harnessed physiology soon, such as rapid aging, to speed up the viability of increasing the pool of available soldiers. Ben may come back as another actor, the same age as Tom.

That would be a shame, I'd feel bad for the actor. The kid was real wooden at first, but, since he started going through his changes, he's done a really good job of portraying it convincingly IMHO

I don't think so TNT has been running a Ben promo, his is the only character I have seen so honored. I may be wrong but now that Ben is no longer a harnessed zombie picking up scrap metal he is the break out actor of the show. With little brother now guarding the MASH bus I think child soldiers will continue to be a major theme.

I still like a simole space pirates explanation for the fishheads. Why cant they just be a biker gang, roaming around and causing mayhem because theyre superior to civilizationg they encounter?

They have to need something from us, because they are building those mysterious structures. Also, they can't be as powerful as they want to seem, because they were willing to negotiate with Tom. They could be space pirates with advanced technology, but they must have limited resources somehow.

Heh...they might be this universe's version of Packleds. Albeit a little more intelligent and devious, but basically scavengers without a complete mastery of the technology they wield, hence using our own scrap metal to make these odd structures. Surely they should have the ability to produce superior alloys and not have to resort to using our crappy metals. They're smart enough to know how to use their tech but they might not know how to make more of it. The humans have depleted their resources quicker than they anticipated and now they're getting worried.

I like that space pirate idea. The more you think about it, it makes more sense. Maybe they had just enough materials to reach Earth and we gave them more of a fight than they anticipated. The remaining humans now stretch their resources even more.

I get the feeling that is where the story is heading to. The fish heads got a major enemy and they need to amass an army of skitters and humans to fight them.

Looks like I was right. I really hope that these Drop Troopers are allies.

I think that the Overlords came across their planet and attempted to do the same thing they are doing on Earth, so the skitters are/were the children of the Drop Troopers.

As well, the thing about the Overlords being walking computers, that just seems like a horrible flaw.

What happened to Dy's Wolverine healing powers from season one? Broken neck, massive concussion should've been nothing for him.

Has there ever been a main character who has done less than Dy in two seasons of any show? Matt Frewer probably had more lines in the last episode than Dy had all season long.

I remember reading that after SGU got cancelled, the writers of SGU were pitching a new sci fi show where earth becomes a battleground between two alien races. Falling Skies seems to be heading in that direction.

The ending of the season 2 finale reminds of Halo and Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles for some reason.

Loved the HALO guys. The armor was very anime-looking. Almost reminds me of an old Battlestar Galactica comic book cover of the first appearance of an original (REAL original) Cylon:

I liked the episode. The introduction of the new aliens was a great way to end the season.

A nitpick- the fish aliens being computational geniuses and they don't need computers seems a bit farfetched.

I really didn’t get the part where the bug came out of Hal’s eye and crawled into his ear. Is this another way to harness people?

The bug is a secure communication device.

We saw the bug that left Toms eye several episodes ago land on red eye and burrow into his eye.

This one seems to be doing a bit more than Tom's was. Hal developed a rather evil-looking smile, like he was being controlled remotely, either by his ex-girlfriend or possibly another fish head. I don't think it's an alternative to full harnessing, but definitely a drone designed for control and communication.

Agreed. It appears to be more than a simple snooping device.
