So did anyone watch the pilot on Wednesday night? I'm generally not a reality TV fan, particularly of the sort involving judges, but all things considered I actually thought it wasn't too bad.

Kinda cool, seeing how they were doing this. And that they were given enough time to actually do a good job instead of "how good a job can you do in too little time"?

Yeah, the little teaser competition was sort of meh; I kind of felt like we didn't get a good look at all of the results. I'm also not sure whether it was wise to eliminate someone in the pilot, though maybe that's common in a lot of reality shows, because we never really get to see that person do something good for the show's premise.

I enjoyed the first ep. It was interesting to see the various steps, and opportunities for disaster, involved.

I liked it b/c of the subject matter but I usually hate these type of shows with their forced competition "drama". I would have preferred a series just following the daily goings of a make up studio...

Anybody else watch last night's ep?

I would have given first place to the "cobblestone" makeup, but the other contestant was good, too.

Never heard of it but I looked it up and it sounds interesting. Might have to see if I can watch it.

I suspect the cobblestone makeup would have won, if he hadn't stuffed a plant in the model's ass. That one decision ruined the whole effect.

I watched it for the first time last night. Luckily i caught the first ep yesterday when they re-ran it earlier. I'm enjoying it.

The weed butt thing was little distasteful, but more so for my empathy for the model. I imagine that didn't make her feel particularly nice. He did do an awesome job on her makeup though.

The fish one was great, but the best one imo (and the judges) was the girl breaking out of the wood. Man, that was INCREDIBLE!

The guy who seems to finish up quickly and read ...last night he had the problem working with the nude male (who i felt TERRIBLE for) seems like a real douchebag.

And the guy that got eliminated deserved it imo. WTF was he doing?

I don't watch these types of elimination shows (other than AI) and i could live without the drama shit...but i will def. be watching this one. Im looking forward to next week's ep when they do aliens!

That makes sense. It was great work, but I had to wince when I saw where that weed was "planted". Ouch. Maybe he could have placed it at her knees, or painted moss on one of her thighs.

Also, didn't Tate have immunity from winning the tattoo thing earlier? (Or am I remembering wrong?) If so, why was he on the chopping block at the end?

The winner of the Foundation Challenge only got immunity last week. This week the reward for winning the first challenge was having first pick of the model and the background.

I guess the reward for winning the first challenge is going to vary from week to week. You win some sort of "advantage" but not necessarily immunity . . . ..

Thanks, Greg -- now that you mention it, I do remember them saying that, but I guess it didn't really sink in. (No caffeine left in my system at that time of night. ;) )

I hope they keep the two goth gals for a while, theyre so cute! I felt bad for the one who used the wrong paint, I could see something like that happening to me(i was so happy when the judges ended up liking her piece!)

I watched one episode--the animals challenge--and while it was interesting to me, since I know NOTHING about make-up, I can't imagine this holding my interest week after week.

i've found it an interesting show. Next week's show looks really neat, where they have to make an alien. Would love to see michael westmore be a guest judge.

Indeed. The producers lucked out when they found a photogenic blonde hostess who also happened to belong to the whole Westmore dynasty! The Westmores have been doing great makeup jobs since Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde back in 1931!

And I admit to being amused by the show's Underworld connection as well . . . .
