Facebook Into Darkness + movie tagline

The Anton Yelchin page which is promoting that competition is also promoting the "official" Trek into Darkness page. This casts some (more) doubt on that competition which sounds a bit too good to be true. You need to like the Anton Yelchin page to enter the competition.

Yourself and FIVE friends flown to the premiere? Given 60,000 dollars? I'm starting to doubt this. Maybe it's just an email harvesting scheme.

We adjusted the contest's marketing strategy shortly after launching it. You are longer needed to like Anton Yelchin's page, instead you are entered immediately after liking Star Trek Into Darkness. No personal data is required for contest entry. The winner will be selected from the pool of fans on April 30th, 2013 at 11:59pm, minus any accounts who have since disliked the page.

For clarification purposes, I work within the West Coast Division of Viacom. We are handling the promotion needs for Star Trek Into Darkness.

I apologize for any confusion we've caused due to our adjustments. Unfortunately, this is all that I can speak on this matter or the film. Please send any other inquiries to help@viacom.com.

^^ The "press release" shows a release date of May 14th, while the real date is May 17th.

Also, for some one "work within the West Coast Division of Viacom", he sure likes to post in the middle of the night, west cost time...

oh noooo! i liked the facebook page!!!! let the spam begin.

also, on trekweb's page they show the character images with the planet below. the date on the lower right of the poster shows the 09 release date. maybe they just grabbed this stock image because there isn't a new official poster yet. i hope the facebook page and contest are legit but it's kind of a clumsy launch. 60k prize money also seems a bit random.

I don´t know. TrekWeb shows it as Paramount Pictures
PRE-EVENT PRESS RELEASE, without source or link. Are they sure?

I prefer to wait.

The contest sounded off from the beginning. The unfinished "official" Facebook page, with "officially sanctioned by" language buried in a comment thread, the IMDb link switched to a dead link now supposedly to become active later, the changing non-Paramount email addresses, etc. -- all of that says to me that the whole business is a fake, so this thread closed.

When the announcement comes through less dodgy-sounding channels, we'll be ready to listen, but for now, I think we're done here.
