I for one (and, I suspect, most of the other members of this board) have never had, nor do I expect to ever have, any personal contact with Orci or anyone else associated with this film.

I want to see this film because I think (so far) it looks and sounds like it will be a good time at the theater -- I expect to eat a tub-o-popcorn, drink a ginormous Coca-Cola, and watch a fun and exciting movie -- and come out of the theater smiling.

I COULD NOT CARE LESS WHAT ORCI THINKS OF ME!...in fact I'm positive he doesn't even know I exist. So how the hell can you sat that I -- or the many others like me on this board -- are kissing Orci's ass. What purpose would kissing his ass serve me?

None of us were there, but no matter how polite you are, they can't be expected to give up the entire plot of the movie to make you feel better. Filmmakers get asked the same questions a thousand times a day and get sick of being asked.

I have it on good authority... authority that MattJC can hardly argue with... that Orci and company plan, despite apparent changes that would seem to indicate the contrary, that their movie will "fit" into the existing Trek canon/continuity. Moreover, that the changes will be explained in the story.

Mr. Orci gave me some examples from past Treks which give some precedence( I don't know if I spelled that right) for what is happening with this movie.
Here is his exact post to me:

Did you see the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise?" Or Star Trek iV? Was Tasha coming back to life, or the theft of whales a canon violation?

And he's got a point. I can think of several other episodes in the Trek canon where the timeline is altered in some way.

I sent him a reply asking if we'll get an explanation on why the Enterprise looks different. I wasn't looking for spoilers, just a simple yes or no question.

Personally, I've never tried corresponding with anyone such as Orci. I expect that they would have their own jobs to worry about to bother sending me anything more than a cursory "hello, thanks for your interest" sort of reply.

It doesn't surprise me that he ignored you (not just you, but anyone who emailed him). It surprises me more that you actually originally got more of a response back from him that that cursory "thanks" email I described above.

EDIT TO ADD: Actually I can't say that -- I participated in that Q&A session with Abrams, Orci, Brian Burk, et al early last year on trekmovie.com. I did submit a question, but it was not answered -- however It seems that Orci has been very polite and forthcoming during the instances that he posted on trekmovie.com

Nor does it give others the right to question your integrity, and it would be best if that ceased, too. But surely you can see that claiming posters here are "kissing arse" or have their heads up someone's arse (or whatever other charming phrases you care to trot out) is hardly the best way to convince them of your good will or get them to "take your side". Meeting people with antagonism will only get you the same in return.
