Explain The Origin Of Your Username...

A long long time ago.. I can still remember...

I was joining AOL back in the early 90s, and wanted a Star Trek name, but nothing obvious. I remembered the episode "A Taste of Armageddon" and the war between the two planets, one of them never visited. I found the spelling of the planet's name as Vendicar. I changed the 'c' to a 'k' and added an additional 'r'. And Vendikarr was born. The thing is I find my spelling used on more than a few sites for the planet's name.

But I swear my version is original.

It's only a coincidence that Rama is an incarnation of the Hindi god Vishnu, which is the epitome of maleness.

Hindu (not Hindi) and I've never heard that before.

I realized too late that some posters might think I named myself for Kira Meru, mother of Nerys, mistress of Gul Dukat. D'oh!

I registered on TBBS long before I was a regular here and your name in Misc is one of the first things I remember about the board. I didn't know why you wanted to be Kira's mom online!

It's a combination of my first name and the first initial of my surname: "Tim B." It was first applied to me by my baseball teammates in high school, and it stuck.

It's the name of a Pink Floyd song that comes fully loaded with a polka band and kazoo. I mean, what's not to love?

I always thought it sounded kind of Klingon. Though i suppose that would really be "K'legg" but whatever.

Why, thank you:D

I wanted 'Weyoun', but sadly...It was already taken:(

Not as orginal I know, but there were 8 of you. ;)
Wouldn't that be nine now? She's a cat! Rawr!

Though Vorta tend to be mousy. It's a conundrum.

For some reason, whenever I read your name, it makes me think of a Lib Dem Military Coup!

I don't really have an explanation for my user name since I'm not a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I do know that I would hate to have a name like Bob283427349234 or WhiteSoxFan739034 so I end up having tons of different names. I think Megatron and Derek Wildstar were taken when I was creating my TrekBBS account.

I've used "cooleddie74" since I set up my very first e-mail account back in 1999. Some of my friends think I'm kinda cool, so I decided to incorporate their opinion into my name and add 74 to the end because that's the year I was born. It's as simple as that.

I've used "cooleddie74" on all my e-mail and most of my message board accounts since then. I'm a creature of habit so I've never had a reason to change it.

When I was a Scout, I had the nickname Dimebar because I tended to (and often do still) ask stupid questions and it was around the time of the Harry Enfield Dimebar adverts.

Fast forward a few years and I decided to combine the nickname with my actual name (Daniel) when hanging out online and thus Dimesdan was formed and I've used variants of it over the last decade or so.

When I first joined this site I was JinxtoEeiauo. It was based on a character in my favorite ST novel, "Uhura's Song." One of the characters in the novel is called Jinx, who is treated like an outcast (not, of course that I consider myself to be an outcast. :bolian:)

My current nom de plume combines my original name with a nod to my favorite Trek series, Enterprise.

Nightwind was my very first character in the "Champions" superhero rpg. It's nightwind1 now, because on one of the forums I'm on, nightwind was already taken. Now I'm nightwind1 on nearly every forum I'm on.

You should change it to Nightwindone. That way you can be "NWO" which has many different connotations--most of which are not appropriate for Misc.

About seven or eight years ago I was writing a lot of over the top ironic rock songs, sort of like Spinal Tap/Motley Crue.
I wanted a name that sounded like an overdone attempt at sounding dangerous. "Draculasaurus" is what I came up with.
Eventually I made an avatar of a t-rex in a coffin. After a few years of using it in the Doctor Who fan art community the "Draculasaurus" character took on a life of its own, I even published a comic book of his adventures. That's what my current avatar is from.

I answered this last time the question came up (August, I think?), so I'll lazily repaste. :p

The Nasat is an alien race from the current line of Trek books (the pillbug-thing in my avatar, naturally). I wanted something Trek-based, this being the Trek BBS, and I originally joined for the literature forum. Because I'm big on continuity between the books, I created a "character" who frothed with incoherent, murderous anger when that continuity was violated; basically some exaggerated (and not genuinely experienced!) nerd-rage. Because the Nasat are peaceful, cautious and probably the least potentially murderous race in Trek lit, I thought it amusing to choose them. Hence, "Deranged Nasat".
