Exclusive "The End of Time part 2" clip (spoilers!)

What, no comment about "the glove of Rassilon?' C'mon, you people know that's what it is.

Speaking of Rassilon, wouldn't that be hoot...The Time Lords got Rassilon up from his eternal slumber to fight the Time War, and the reason Dalton is saying he will not die, is because he's either Rassilon himself or a President as nutty as those who sought immortality before him...

Or Barusa somehow managed to escape.

Davies' finales have always followed a formula: Introduce an enemy by the thousands / millions / billions / trillions / hojillions, and have the enemy and everything that's happened wiped away at the resolution through some manner of magic hand-waving. The manner of hand-waving simply depends on the particular episode.
Surely that's every episode with a large alien threat.

"Oh wait, this device can ignite all their gas!"
"Oh wait, we can cause it to rain on the entire planet!"
"Oh wait, the aliens have a weakness to sound!"
"Oh wait, I've built a device to disrupt the control signal!"
"Oh wait, she's acquired godlike powers!"
"Oh wait, we've reversed the station's air-conditioning system."

;)

Davies understands Who as an extravagant, ridiculous romp with entertaining and endearing characters emeshed in over-the-top fantasy scenarios. That works - television does not need one more "science fiction" series whose fans take it seriously.

Of all the shows that have been called - or called themselves - the "anti-Trek," DW is probably the strongest contender for the title.

Can someone put YT links up? Iv'e seen one trailer (Ripley Wilf, etc), but there seems to be scenes you guys are talking about (Dr's clothes shredded) that I'm not seeing nor finding. Unless I'm just tired and not looking closely. :)

Exactly right.

Complete agreement here.

We are talking about a tv trailer (wilf firing the big gun etc..) and the clip with timelord counsel etc.. The Doctor's shedded clothes can be seen on some pics of Matt Smith from the upcoming series 5. It was not a youtube, however there are yutube clip that some fans have complied all the Matt Smith still pic together.

Could something like that stay a secret, though?

sometimes yes.

Though one thing - is the British screen actors guild as narky about the credits as the American one? It's hard on U.S programs for the producers to hide a special appearance because they are required to list the actors in the credits.

Or they can just do some trick shots like a behind the head trick they did with Obama. LOL

I liked the idea of having President Obama appear in the Whoniverse, but the actor they hired to double for him looked nothing like the guy. I was really disappointed in that -- a multi-billion pound Crown corporation and they couldn't find a decent Obama impersonator in the whole of the United Kingdom?

Maybe just like Troughtons Dr the timelords are forcing the Dr to regenerate as some sort of punishment for some things that happened and he has traveled back to see everybody one more time before it happens.....but i don't think we are going to see a massive reset and Tenants Dr never happening, unless of course at some stage in the future the 11th Dr rebels and tries to sort it all out and meets the 10th DR for a two part special.

Man it is so easy to complicate things in the Whoverse..

New trailer (UK only) from BBC website.

Trailer

for those who can't view it it...

It begins with The Doctor saying that he thinks that a Time Lord can live too long and is quickly followed by a shot of Wilf manning what looks like a gun turret on a space ship shooting at something and creating an explosion. A voiceover of a woman explains that this will be the Doctor's final battle. Wilf is then shown tearfully handing his gun over to the Doctor claiming that he doesn't want him to die and then the Doctor at the controls of a crashing ship with the windows shattering everywhere. The Doctor is then shown brutally injured with the Master claiming that it "should be spectacular".

The Narrator is shown in front of many cheering Time Lords saying "Gallifrey rises", followed by the Doctor saying that the Time Lords are returning. The Master is shown celebrating his victory, then the Narrator claims that "At last we are gathered for the end". Finally The Doctor and Wilf are shown before the trailer ends.

:)
