EVERYTHING was changed!!!

Interesting choices by many of you. I have to totally agree about Blade runner, Terminator, and the Alien movies. I think the production value of Aliens was overlooked. I don't remember seeing too many movies, prior to that, that used the military aspect so much and made it somewhat recognizable and believable.

I can't remember if it came after Star Wars or not, but Close Encounters might need to be included.
 
Close Encounters of the Third Kind was released a few months after Star Wars. In many theatres, it was the first film to knock off unstoppable runs of the former that had been going strong since the film began its run.

I don't know how influential it really is, though. Memorable, perhaps, but I can't recall any imitators. E.T. probably had more knock-offs in its wake.
