Ever Notice His Hand Wrapped?

I guess this is a good thread to ask a question:

Why is Scott wearing a Science Division badge in “The Lights of Zetar”?!

I know, I know... just a behind the scenes mistake.

Fan theory only, the laundry delivered the wrong shirt and Scotty being in a hurry that morning simply when with it.

Plus as it was in TLOZ it's even more believable than usual - the episode goes out of its way to depict Scotty as love-struck so it's perfectly explainable that he wouldn't notice the wrong insignia

I never noticed that before. Maybe he was temporarily co-assigned to the Science Department in scientific support of Lt. Romaine executing the "direct transfer" (read, installation via transporter) of the equipment to Memory Alpha.

Or he wanted to impress the gal with his smarts, and dressed up accordingly, trusting his boss wouldn't notice. After all, he was going to spend the afternoon out of sight of anybody but Mira...

...but everywhere else it's the science badge. Be interesting to look at the production reports and see what day the engine room stuff was filmed.

According to Memory Alpha, "The Lights of Zetar" was filmed 1 November to 11 November 1968. It doesn't list any episodes in the engine room, but it does list scenes in Emergency manual control on 8 November and 11 November, the last two days of filming.

Mr. Scott's other scenes, with the science emblem on his badge, would have been filmed on some of the other five days of filming.
