Euros Lyn to direct Doctor Who movie?

Perhaps it will be River Song's first meeting with the Doctor? Lyn did do Silence In The Library after all...

If there is a film, it will be a completely self-contained stand-alone story designed so it can be understood by people who've never seen an episode of Doctor Who in their lives. With an American actress (or at least an actress who'll be well known in America) playing the Companion.

Rachel Weisz or Kate Winslet would be perfect. :)

Unfortunately, we'll probably end up with someone like Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johannsen.

There's no problem here. This would be River Song's first encounter with The Doctor and he wouldn't say anything to her about having met her (and how she died) as already stated by the two-parter. All we would get would be some subtle hints that the general audience wouldn't have to worry about. I think the meeting of River Song could work out...

I love Portman but I would certainly take Weisz or Winslet over her.

I think the idea of a DW movie with Tennant is wonderful - it's one more appearence. I'd rather it was Eccleston, but Tennant is great too.

In the 60's when Peter Cushing was playing The Doctor on the big screen, William Hartnell was still playing The Doctor in the TV series.

The story no-one wants to see?

Also, if this film features the '10.5' Doctor I'm basically never watching Doctor Who again*

*May not actually be true

Should the fragrant Kate appear in a WHO production I think I would explode with delight.

:D

That would be cool, but hazarding a guess I'd guess they'd either have to go with someone who's famous but perhaps dipping career wise or some young up and comer no one's heard of much.

Then again Weisz is a fan I think, and RTD did give winslet her big break...

Please no River Song, bad enough we know the doctor will be in no danger, to do likewise with the companion would be worse...

Personally I'd be tempted to get Lady Christina back...

Quite true, and they were also retelling two already aired TV series, and poor old Cushing always seems to be overlooked when it comes to Dr who history.:(

I love those two movies, they are groovy man.

Yeah, I doubt Kate will appear. But I live in hope...

Excellent Saturday afternoon fare for kids. I always liked them, too. Plus, one of them has The Cribbens *salute, gawdbelssyersir* and the other has THE CHOCOLATE OFFENSIVE!"

Yes, but that Doctor was a Human being, from Earth.

Not a Time Lord, not from Gallifrey, not an alien. Just an old eccentric human inventor from Earth.

From what I can tell about this movie (and perhaps I'm being presumptuous), it's just going to be the ongoing tales of The Tenth Doctor doing his thing.

It's not just perhaps presumptuous, it's incredibly presumptuous to presume to know what a movie that apparently hasn't even been written yet is going to be about.

Well what else could it be about? What would be able to happen in this movie that would set it apart from any other of RTD's over-the-top OMGSOEPIC!!!1!1one! wankfests, for example?

I wonder just how many Daleks the budget will allow RTD, just how he can top the entire multiverse being in danger, and just what clever and well written explanation he can give us this time for all the Daleks exploding at once?

Magical moonwalk that makes them all self destruct? ;)

Actually on a more serious note, I wonder if the Daleks would be available to use in the film or not?

So, is this movie for real or just a rumour? I'm not seeing anything that says it's on.
