EURO 2020 Thread!

If anyone has any workable theories regarding why Kane and Sterling were on the pitch, please feel free share them...

Sterling scored a scuffed goal against Croatia and everyone forgets how awful he was in that game. Plays even worse and get's all 90 minutes tonight. Sancho the KING of assists and also scored more than Sterling this season gets to watch from the bench. Harry Kane is clearly not 100% fit and believes he's a FUCKING midfielder so drop him and play someone who remembers what Strikers are paid to do.

World Champions France are held to a 1-1 draw by Hungary in Budapest. Pretty underwhelming start from France - scraped past a not-very-good German side 1-0 thanks to an own goal then drew against the supposed whipping boys of the group.

Portugal vs Germany in Munich is next.

Ronaldo's strategy against Germany.....:D

It feels like only yesterday that Spain were annoying us all by winning tournament after tournament... they've gone back to being terrible.

Yeah, like I said earlier France was my pick to win the tournament, but they haven't really impressed so far. At this point I feel like Italy have to be the favorites; they've been the most dominant team so far.

France in 98 and 2018 weren't great in the group but got better in the latter stages. Spain squad is the poorest they've taken to a tournament in a generation. Portugal will end 3rd again like in 2016 and fluke there way into Last 16 - I hate that 3rd place teams go through.

As for my own shite team, might as well go back to the tried and tested 2018 formation...

The Danes are wild tonight crushing Russia 4-1 to qualify in 2nd place for the Last 16. Brilliant 2nd half and Finland's defeat to Belgium not only means Danish qualification but England have secured at least one of the best 3rd place best teams if we screw up tomorrow night.

Wales v Denmark is going to be a cracking Last 16 tie.

That removes any incentive for Southgate to go for a win.

Group D will be decided tonight; England play Czech Republic needing a win to top the group but little incentive to do so beyond the hope of improving on their last performance. Mount and Chilwell self-isolating after being deemed "close contacts" of Scotland's Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for COVID. As to why they have to self-isolate while none of the Scotland team do (beyond Gilmour) - who can say?

I'm guessing Grealish will start in Mount's place. Will Southgate experiment with new wingers? Jadon Sancho still needs a game and other options include Rashford and Bukayo Saka.

Walker, Maguire and Grealish look to start tonight and there are some rumours saying Saka could play ahead of Foden but no Sancho again

As an Arsenal fan, I'm happy to see Saka starting - but good grief, what does Southgate have against Sancho?

£100m for Harry Kane ?

I'd snatch the money out of their hand so fast I'd leave a bloody stump...

Well, it was an exciting opening 20 minutes, but England quickly settled into their "job done" mentality instead of really going for the kill. Kane still on 0 goals - though had a good chance to score. Saka and Grealish must be starters next game.

Hard to complain about a win, but I fear for England against any top-quality team. They go through as group winners, while Croatia join them in 2nd place.
