Well, didn't turn out to be shootout, but a very exciting and offensive match anyway. Maybe Del Bosque does know a little more about football than you.
I thought it was a bit dull - I'm surprised either team could be bothered interrupting their kick about with a goal...
Am sure he does but from that performance he will have to learn more if Spain are going to win Euro 2012. Nice to see Torres still can't hit a barn door & Llorente must be a little miffed why his 29 goals this season gets him nowhere near the pitch. Loved Balotelli's stroll to net like he was walking through a park.
I had it only as a backgroung noise. I'm fine with the result. The Euro begins tomorrow for me, bring me those little English
Ireland - Croatia could be a really interesting match but it could also be mind-numbingly dull. We'll see. Nice to see Trappatoni is still around. I also feel I have some investment in this because one of my grandmas was born in Poznan.
I turned it on shortly before the first goal. I thought it was a good match. Di Natale is a very good player. Although, in the last few minutes, I was convinced Spain was going to get a second goal. Italy fought hard and earned their tie.
Halftime see the Irish down thouh I have issues with the 2nd goal when the ball is originally played into box Jelavic is offside and never comes back onside before he scores. Misclearence by Irish defender is not a direct pass and before that hes offside anyway. edit - 3-1 down and Ireland never got anything going upfront though they were denied a clear penalty. That game is exactly what is going to happen between ENG & France, sit back to defend and silly mistakes leave you chasing the game.
Still no 0-0 draws yet - oh well we get our campaign underway tomorrow and we'll undoubtedly look to invoke the 'spirit of Chelsea', so we'll see. St Ledger post match interview - "Well, against a team like Croatia....." - They're not fucking Brazil!
I die a little inside every time a pundit brings up Chelsea v Barcelona just because some team is defending. I wonder if they'd bring it up if someone gets sent off for a jumping knee in the back.
I'm looking forward to the game. I even changed my desktop wallpaper to something England-themed. Sadly, my England shirt died in the washing machine last year.
1-1 is about as positive as I can muster. Oxlade-Chamberlain tipped to start ahead of Downing on the left. Hart Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Ox Welbeck, Young
As an American of primarily French and Scottish descent (long live the Auld Alliance!), I'm rooting for France to beat England today. Allez les Bleus!
