This poll/discussion is specifically directed to those who has seen substantial amounts of both the TOS era and Strange New Worlds.

There seems to be some growing sentiment within the fanbase- not necessarily against Ethan Peck, but not liking how Spock is being written in SNW. Just wondering how widespread this is among the fanbase or if its a vocal minority. Personally, although a have a few issues with SNW Spock, overall I'm happy on how he's been presented in the show.

I don't recall there being a poll.

More than likely the same vocal minority that likes to shit on anything made after 2005 has started a new round of whining, likely to coincide with the release of season 3 of Strange New Worlds.

I'm sure we can count on them bringing out all the old classics over the coming weeks.

Meh, not really a fan of his interpretation. Of the "other than Nimoy's" I feel like Zachary Quinto had a much better handle on the character.

Peck's Spock is different, but not out of line with what I would expect of the character at this stage of his life. And given SNW leans more into comedy, the performance is entirely appropriate.

I feel like we're watching "Young Spock", relative to Vulcan Age terms.
He's at the age where "Hi-Jinks" are bound to ensue.

By the time we see TOS Spock, he's kind of the "Grown Adult" spock, where he's a bit more mature.

That's like 2-3 Vulcan years, between SNW and TOS. He was still alive nearly a century after TOS, with his father still living.

So, I'm going to borrow from myself from the Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread, for the main point. But, TL-DR: Peck is great.

So, I've been mulling on this for a bit, both with Superman, and with SNW, and the complaints over "Well, Kirk would never do X," or "Spock would never act like Y." or "Scotty needs to act more like Z." And, I just thought, "Maybe they learned from the mistakes they made and we were never privied to that proving period." It seems to be that Star Trek characters are treated a bit like Athena:

Kirk sprung from the mind fully formed and awesome. He never struggled, never failed, or always made the best decision. That sometimes seems to be the perception. Scotty and Spock are the same.

I don't know about anyone else, and maybe it's just me: but I didn't become better than I was before or in my 20s, 30s, through fully formed wisdom. It came by hard work, discipline and a ton of failures and mistakes.

Spock and Kirk in SNW are characters that I value because I see both the raw form and I know what they become. And I want to see that journey!

Full disclosure time: As a young man born in the 80s Spock was my favorite character in fiction growing up, at least for TV. The guys from CHiPs and Emergency were tied for second. Anyway, I was a very emotional young man, and got my fair share of teasing for being tearful, and a Trek fan, and the like. I aspired to Nimoy even as I felt that was an impossibility.

Spock was an inspiration, as much as my dad was. Both showed different sides of the journey and that emotional control was possible. What Peck offers is the inside the transition from Cage Spock to TOS Spock.

And, that's a journey worth taking for me.

MASH will illustrate this a bit better:
