Episode Titles

Upper pylon 3

Less than 3 weeks from the premier and we still don't have any episode titles? I don't follow every thread on this board, but did I miss something? Neither IMDB or Wikipedia lists any.

I hope they have them. It's a lot more fun to discuss episodes by title. No one would remember them by number. You would have to describe the episodes by plot.

The majority of shows still have episode titles, they just don't show them onscreen as much. I'm pretty sure Discovery will.

Yeah, the majority of shows still have titles for their episodes, they just aren't displayed on screen. Another thing that is very common these days is that episodes don't actually get titles until a week or so before they air, during production they are just "Episode 1, 2, 3" or a convoluted production code. This could very well be the case for Discovery, meaning the episodes haven't been assigned titles yet.

I wonder if they'll do the Game of Thrones thing. I know the episodes are titled. But I don't think you see it during the credits.

Regardless of "tradition", I hope that Discovery is like a lot of other Netflix shows that have full opening credit sequences (including the actors, writers, directors, etc), and then no on-screen text during the story.

But I'm not really too worried either way. :)

It was years into the Berman era before they started giving us episode titles ahead of time, with a few exception like "Encounter at Farpoint". This series may never do that, because of plot twists and the like, so we may never see them until right before they premiere.

RAMA

Wasn't “Desperate Hours” the title of the premiere episode? Or was that just the book's title?

I hope the names are long pretentious sentences like in TOS. None of this one-word name bollox from the later spin-offs.

And I hope they don't rip off Yeats' "The Second Coming" like Andromeda did every other episode.

I mean, it's a cool poem and all that, but Andromeda (over the course of five seasons) took about the whole damn thing!

It has been confirmed that Discovery will have a full credit sequence.

I believe 90 seconds?

I hope they don't follow the trend of many shows today and take a line of dialogue from a key scene of the episode and make that the title. Walking Dead is especially guilty of this.

Why not? I think that sounds like a nice idea.
