SCOTT: These are very sensitive instruments. I will not have you upset their delicate balance. We would all be lost, forever lost. Go away now. Go away or we'll kill you!

UHURA: I see my death. A long death. Disease and pain. I see my death.

CHEKOV: I will not disobey now! I cannot disobey!

SULU: Captain, stay away from the controls! If you touch them, we'll be destroyed!

Yikes! Yeesh! Yuck! Lines like these plant this one in my bottom five, and that it's not the very bottom is just a reflection of how bad some of the other third season episodes are. Even the worst of the first and second season episodes ("The Alternative Factor," "Return To Tomorrow") never dug this low. This one hurts like a blunt object to the kidneys.
Agreed. Plus Shatner's overacting is amusing. For my money, scenes like that at least give it some cheesy entertainment value. "The Alternative Factor" just makes no sense and typically puts me to sleep.
Taylor said:You finally really did it. You maniacs! You blew it up! God damn you! God damn you all to hell!

I think Freiberger thought it was a good idea and would bring publicity to the production; sort of stunt casting.Somebody remind me how a lawyer got a gig acting as the villain in the episode.

I got to see the Enterprise sets and exterior shots. That makes it better than a 1.
