I pretty much think Mike has got it.
I could "caution" a lot of things, but that doesn't make me any more of an authority figure than anyone else, including Christopher.Christopher doesn't have to be a moderator in order to advise (or caution) people against trying to use the "Kahn isn't in Until Darkness" thing as "proof" that audiences are being fed lies when it comes to the Sequel Trilogy (or any other property, for that matter).
I really hope they don't contradict the reveal that Rey's parents are nobodies.
I really hope they don't contradict the reveal that Rey's parents are nobodies. Not only would it completely destroy the whole theme of Rey's storyline in The Last Jedi, but it would make the character a lot less interesting. I like the idea of her being a nobody who discovers a great destiny.
They won't.
As has been pointed out numerous times, both JJ and Rian independently - and repeatedly - stated that they both reached the same conclusion - separately - about who Rey's parents were.
We also know that JJ was not only aware of everything Rian was going to do in TLJ, but approved of it as well in his capacity as a Producer on that film.
I still maintain that there is a distinct possibility of Rey being revealed to be a Skywalker through Shmi's paternal line, but such a reveal would not be contradictory to TLJ in the slightest because her being a Skywalker by blood and her parents being "nobodies" are not mutually exclusive things given the fact that it is only one specific branch of the Skywalker family tree (Anakin > Luke and Leia > Ben Solo) that has any galactic significance.
Stuff like that didn't occur to me, but it could work.I don’t think they will. Certain points of view, remember? Her parents WERE nobodies. She just never knew they were foster parents, not her birth parents. And those were nobodies too.
Because they don’t exist. There was no father - or mother. The Force cavern couldn’t show Rey her parents because there was no one to show. Her life, I strongly suspect, began in a cloning vat.

Located around a person?Perhaps she's the center of a vergence in "The Force."
A vergence, you say?
Kor
Christopher has repeatedly cautioned you in the past against bringing up the "Kahn isn't in into Darkness" thing - which JJ admitted was a mistake - as justification for dismissing anything and everything that filmmakers or actors say about the projects they're involved in as being lies.
To paraphrase him, not everyone is lying because this one person lied once-upon-a-time.
"cautioned"?
"Cautioned" in that if we keep pushing this, Christopher will come at us with a condescending tone as to why we are wrong, and why our fears/concerns are not valid, even if we provide proof. He provide his own proof from obscure events to show that he alone is right.Did you really mean that Christopher cautioned BillJ? Christopher's not a moderator.
I don't dismiss it. I'm betting against it, and tired of being told I should expect people are going to lie to me. It's tiresome.
Sorry that it sounds nippy. It's more general fatigue at the attitude expressed towards Hollywood producers.
Fair enough. But, I'll believe him for the time being.i understand ... but in this case, it is the SAME producer of ANOTHER well loved sci-fi property where he did it, so the odds of it happening again are far greater than a random producer. It's like an adulterer saying he is never going to cheat again -- unless there is some significant effort and change in mindset, i wouldn't believe him so easily.

Hence the mirrors sequence, and her raising her hand. Maybe her parent was Luke’s hand. *dun dun dun*
She was a failed clone, and the imperial officers told to destroy her were her ‘nobody’ parents who couldn’t bring themselves to kill her as ordered, so they left her on Jakku.
Standard fairytale hidden scion stuff.
I could see it working.
She could be the corporal carrot of the Star Wars universe.
There's a big problem with this theory; Rey knows who her parents are.
There’s no point where she knows for certain.
This is 100% false as stated directly by the filmmakers.
