Episode Eight Pre-Release Thread

I don’t think they’ll do a double turn, but meet in the middle.

Both with be dissatisfied with their masters

Also I just noticed, there is an entire planet missing from the trailer. Canto Bight

Well............all I can say is I have my tickets for midnight. The 13th will be a LONG day but I was crash happy about 0300 on the 14th.....smiling.

As excited as I was for Ep VII, I want this one MOAR!!

Love Star Trek for all it's worth, but every once in a while I gotta get some SW in.. plus, lightsaber is officially the coolest sci-fi weapon, and beats a phaser every day of the week.

I went for the 20:20hrs on Thursday 14th, means we can have food out before the film after a day at work.

Was that a booster rocket strapped on the back of that X-Wing?!

More techy goodness: AT-ATs (or at least a version of them) in amongst the AT-M6s, and AT-ATs and AT-STs in that large hangar, plus what looked to be AT-ATs strapped to a couple drop ships.

......Can you tell I like AT-ATs? :D

For the love of god please don't make this a Kylo/Rey romance thing though!!

Other than that, nothing spoilery here. The last few seconds are epic, but putting a fall to the dark side in the trailer like that would be basicly showing Han dyingin TFA. No, either they're both leaving their masters, or perhaps even a fall to the light for Kylo. Him looking doubtful at his mask (his chose identity) and then smashing it like that.... I dunno. I think we have two students who are both no longer sure about either the light or the dark.

Yup. Going all 'you shouldn't watch this, but you should, but you shouldn't' to get people more excited for it. As if we're gonna think 'Oh wow, if the director says this, I GOTTA see it'.
It's the new trailer for the new Star Wars movie. It hypes and advertises itself. There was nothing spoilerlike in it. Not even the last 10 seconds, because everyone knows you don't actually show something THAT big from a movie in a trailer. So, it's edited in such a way to make it look like that.

Wow, that was a great trailer. I was surprised to see what appears to be a face to face encounter between Rey and Snoke, I did not expect that. Definitely a lot of interesting things hinted at, but since they like to play around with editing in the trailers it can be hard to tell what actually goes together.
It would be interesting to see if we actually do get some kind of an alliance between Rey and Kylo. The question is, where do their loyalties lie at that point?
It looks like we'll be getting at least one Porg hanging around off of Ach-To.

You do if your movie is Terminator: Genesys .....

I don't know....

I mean, I bought my tickets and I'll be there, totally hyped. But there's something missing for me, something that doesn't feel right. I know it's probably just my hang-up but I'm totally not on board for scared, freaked-out and panicking Luke. I think it's because I actually want him to be more like Kenobi, the wise and utterly stone-cold badass. I think there are probably really good reasons for Luke to be the way he is, but I'm just not on board. At least, not yet.

I'm really crossing my fingers that he gets his moment to shine and that his green saber will come to the fore once again.

I'm also not wild about the trailer music. The TFA trailers had absolutely amazing soundtracks and this was too disjointed and doesn't really work on its own.

Rian Johnson never actually told people to not watch the trailer if they were spoiler-adverse. What he actually said is that they should avoid watching the trailer if they wanted to go into the film without any knowledge of it whatsoever other than the fact that it was coming out.

Yeah, I'm not reading it that way at all. First of all, directors usually don't have much input in to trailers.

Secondly, it's a new Star Wars trailer. People are going to watch.

Finally, "big" is a relative term in terms of spoilers. I recall a friend who felt spoiled by "The Avengers" trailer due to one scene being included.

tl: dr YMMV.

Not at all- it's full of misdirection and purposely out of place scenes... people will make all sorts of theories about it, then only 1 out of about 50 will be remotely correct.

With all respect to Mr. Johnson, that's a pretty obvious and pointless thing to say. "Don't watch the scenes from the movie if you don't want to see scenes from the movie!"

:wtf:

I'd say that seeing Rey will have a face to face encounter with Snoke could be a spoiler.
