Can anyone please tell me which episode Picard is in his cabin telling the story of "epics of Gilgamesh" to some kid/s

I know he also recites Gilgamesh to darmok in the redemption episode, but looking for the other when he also talks about both brothers enkidu and enriku...

thanks you all!!!

There is no such episode. "Darmok" is the only episode in which the Epic of Gilgamesh is featured. Maybe you're thinking of a tie-in novel or comic or a work of fan fiction, but I'm not aware of any. A Google search for "Picard Enkidu Enriku" (without quotes) gets zero hits (they don't even list this thread yet).

Enriku wasn't a word. It was Uruk. Or something like that, not sure of the spelling.

The only episode that had the epic mentioned was Darmok. The only episode with Picard telling some kids a story 9or something similar) is "Disaster" when they are stuck in the turbolift and have to climb the shaft.

Thanks guys, but i'm certain of it...I have never read or seen any comics/novels, just the TV series....Picard is hosting some children in his cabin and begins to tell them the story of gilgamesh and mentions BOTH enkidu and eriku...the reason why i'm sure is because the reason I began to look into the Gilgamesh epics....anyways, thanks for your replies...

^Well, you must've dreamt it, because that never happened, and there is no such character as "Enriku" or "Eriku" in the epic.

Yeah, that never happened. The closest Picard came to entertaining children was in Disaster when he recruits a bunch to be his crew to help them escape from a damaged turbolift.

Did any of the other Trek series use the epic of Gilgamesh? I have a vague memory that one of them did (maybe VOY?). If so, maybe the OP is remembering a scene from that?

^Nope. I did a Google search of www.chakoteya.net, the site that contains complete transcripts of every Trek episode and movie ever, and the only hit was in the "Darmok" transcript. And Memory Alpha lists no references beyond "Darmok."

You might be thinking of the Voyager episode "Heroes and Demons," which used the Beowulf myth.

Pretty sure it was just in Darmok. I loved how Dathon was enjoying his shared metaphor. What a damn great episode.

Heroes and Demons does have the Beowulf myth, but did the OP say something about kids in someone's quarters? perhaps soem Voyager episode with Naomi?

Any episode about Naomi being told a story would have involved a different story, certainly not Gilgamesh, which, as we've already conclusively established, was never referenced anywhere in Trek except "Darmok." The only stories I recall Naomi being told were Flotter & Treevis and some Talaxian stuff from Neelix.

Bottom line, the original poster is imagining something that simply does not exist. Not only was there never any other Gilgamesh reference in Trek, but Enkidu does not have a brother Enriku or Eriku. I have no idea where this stuff is coming from, but it's not reality.

I was thinking of the Ep where Neelix is telling Naomi about the great forest or whatever it is as a bedtime story.

 :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Winner!

Joint post of the week goes to Sonic Ranger & Christopher.

And to add my 2 cents, I've watched every episode of TNG more times than I can count. The only reference to Gilgamesh was in Darmok.

From "Darmok":

Captain Picard said:
There's a story, a very ancient one, from Earth. I'll try and remember it. Gilgamesh, a king. Gilgamesh, a king, at Uruk. He tormented his subjects. He made them angry. They cried out aloud, send us a companion for our king. Spare us from his madness. Enkidu, a wild man from the forest, entered the city. They fought in the temple. They fought in the street. Gilgamesh defeated Enkidu. They became great friends. Gilgamesh and Enkidu at Uruk.

This was what he told Dathon. I think the OP is confusing this with Picard talking to some children in another episode, like "Disaster".

I think the OP is confusing TNG with a Very Special Episode of Family Ties where the Keatons gather around the table and explain the Epic of Gilgamesh to a bunch of young children.
