Enterprise reveal in TMP vs Voyager reveal in 'Caretaker' (pilot)

Having just watched VOY pilot episode Caretaker the ship Voyager was revealed in a series of shots lasting about 1 minute.
In Star Trek The Motion Picture the flyaround and reveal lasts close to ten minutes. Sure when the movie came out in 1979 Star Trek had only been in syndication on the small TV screens for years since the original series ended.
Star Wars had come out 2 years earlier and the Trek franchise wanted to show off the Enterprise on the big screen.

Really now I didn't need any longer than 1 minute for Voyager's reveal while docked at Deep Space 9.
What reveal do you think was better?

TMP's, because I think Voyager is a fugly little ship with atrophied nacelles and a silly emoticon smiley on the front (deflector + torpedo tubes).

My overall favourite is the STXI reveal, where Kirk rides up to the Iowa shipyard and sees the Enterprise for the first time. Screw the whiners who cry about the supposed impracticality of building a ship on the ground, that scene was awesome. The second reveal at spacedock was a neat 20-second TMP tribute (which also mimiced the shuttle-flies-across-the-saucer shot from "Caretaker").

Did it really take close to ten minutes? I thought it was 'only' three minutes or so. I could be wrong, though (I know the reveal seemed to drag on and on for some folks; however, that sequence where Enterprise travels back over V'ger's length almost put me to sleep!).

I think 1-2 minutes is a pretty good length of time to introduce a "new" ship from all angles.

^ The music cue on the TMP soundtrack say the Enterprise reveal was about 6 minutes. The cue for the flyover is 5 minutes. It isn't an exact indicator but it gives a reasonable estimate without pulling out the DVD and checking. (Who has the time to do that? I certainly don't.)

And I think the Enterprise reveal in TMP was much better than Voyager's. The time and effort poured into the special effects for that scene shines in the finished product.

I used Netflix. ;)

Kirk & Scott, in the pod, disengage from the orbital office complex of the San Francisco Ship Yards at timestamp 13:18. The inspection of the Enterprise begins at timestamp 14:39 (most of that minute in between launch and inspection was conversation). The pod docks with the Enterprise at timestamp 19:05.

There is no single better starship reveal in all of Star Trek than that of the refit Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

^ So the music cue was about right. :bolian:

And for clarity, I was referring to the V'Ger flyover when I said 5 minutes, not the travel pod flyover.
