ENTERPRISE on Blu-Ray OFFICIAL Discussion Thread

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

J.J Abrahams didn't reboot the franchise either
Because prime Spock was in XI, it was just a time travel movie were they didn't return to the future.

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

I see it as a reboot. If you don't, hey, that's ok. Like I said, they pretty much mucked up the timeline. It could be argued, like the rumored statement that Braga made that the timeline was changed after First Contact, or that the timeline was changed by the time war arc. Some of us go with the flow, and some of us don't. I am one of the latter.

I am far more open to ST '09. It's two hours of mindless adventure wrapped in Star Trek with a bow on the top.

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

ENT was not an attempt to reboot the franchise.

Sure it was. They used the Temporal Cold War as an excuse to tell the stories they wanted to tell, much the same way Abrams used time travel to tell the story he wanted.

Archer was suppose to be Kirk, T'Pol as Spock and Tucker as McCoy.

Unfortunately, they just didn't have enough faith in the concept to follow through.

Incorrect. The Temporal Cold War was a directive from on high (UPN wanted some kind of fallback to take the show back to the more familiar Trek era in case the prequel concept flopped with viewers). The Archer/T'Pol/Tucker triad was meant to evoke the Kirk/Spock/McCoy one of TOS. A homage is something entirely different from a reboot.

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

UPN was Purgatory, where shows went to die off or just suffer for a season or two before being canceled.

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

The concept of a prequel show was just fine but it's execution was somewaht lacking, many fans agree that S4 was one of it's strongest seasons coincedently many would say that's closest to the prequel idea.

Given the strength of the cast I think they could have easily just jumped into the series without having to go into explanation so much about launch but I see where they were going. It would have been interesting to see the show just start out guns blazing and then have a few episodes explaining there departure etc.

Silly rabbit, I thought everyone knew that the only Trek show allowed to be great from the start is TOS?

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

It looks to me like Enterprise On Set might be one of those Beckola behind-the-scenes TV specials like when TNG finished with one called "Journey's End" hosted by Jonathan Frakes, or DS9 and VOY were launched. That last one, "Inside the New Adventure" was hosted by Robert Picardo, and is on YouTube somewhere I think. But for some reason UPN didn't show this one when ENT began.

It's going to be much more in depth than that... just wait!

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

Shouldn't we have a thread pinned about the Blu ray out soon? Perhaps start a whole new one to mirror those about S1, S2, BoBW movie & S3 over in the TNG forum? Either that or just carry on using this.

Awesome. Thanks! I've been trying to watch that for about a month, but the Yahoo video host Trekmovie.com used meant that it wasn't available to my geographic location.

Special Features listed a few pages back:

:)

That was great!!!

Not great enough for me to buy the blu-rays though having only bought the dvd's a couple years ago.

Got a little emotional when they started with Cochrane.

Sorry ChristopherPike, that isn't the Yahoo video. This is a new trailer for the set - the Yahoo video is a special preview of the bonus features. We're working with CBS to get this available internationally ASAP - hopefully this week, if not - next.

Re: The bird is out: ENTERPRISE on blu-ray

I downloaded the 1080p version of the new trailer. To me the CGI VFX sequences look disappointing. I realise its a 720p upscale but there is a lot of aliasing. I would have expected them to filter that out. Really can't understand how this could happen as anti-aliasing has been around for a while now...

A new sticky thread sounds good. How would you all like to play this? One thread for each season, the way the TNG forum is doing it? Start it around the time of release next month, or sooner?
